How to make a stove in the waste oil with your own hands: options and examples of the manufacture of the stove

During the work of any mechanisms use technical oils. During use for their intended purpose, they are not burned and retain their flammability.

Instead of recycling, an alternative option for their re-use is a stove with waste oil, which you can make with your own hands.

The principle of operation of the stove

The work of the stove is based on the phenomenon of pyrolysis. In such a furnace, where the fuel is oil refining, there are 2 main sections: the tank and the combustion chamber, which are at different levels. The first is designed to fill the mining and its combustion. In another compartment located above, the combustion of combustion products of mining, mixed with air, takes place. At the first stage, the temperature is relatively moderate, and at the second stage it is much higher - up to 800⁰.

In the manufacture of such a furnace, the main task is to ensure that air enters both compartments. It enters the first chamber through an opening intended for loading liquid fuel. The hole is equipped with a special damper, through which regulate the amount of air supply.

Oven-stove
Despite the fact that the design of the furnace is very simple, increased requirements are imposed on the stove chimney. For effective discharge of combustion products, it is necessary to prepare a straight pipe with a diameter of more than 10 cm and a length of more than 400 cm. Bends and horizontal sections are extremely undesirable. In addition to its intended purpose, the pipe also acts as a residual heat exchanger.

Air access to the second tank is provided by holes with a diameter of about 9 mm. The efficiency of properly collected stoves reaches 90%. Visually different stoves can differ from each other both in shape and size, but the principle of operation is the same.

The power of the stove-stove is proportional to the volume of the lower tank. The more voluminous it is, the less often it will be necessary to add training. Sometimes this tank is made very massive, containing about 30 liters of used oil.

Making a simple pot stove

The basic design of the self-made potbelly stove consists of 4 parts:

  1. Fuel tank of arbitrary shape with a hole in the center, the diameter of which is equal to the corresponding size of the attached pipe. Here begins the burning of mining. The metal for the manufacture of this structural element must have a thickness of at least 3 mm.
  2. Combustion chamber (injector), which is a vertical cylindrical tank with a series of holes, connected through an opening to the tank. As a result, the air is fed through the perforated walls of the injector, the fuel that has entered the chamber burns completely.
  3. The heat exchanger in the form of a tank located above the combustion chamber. He enters the heated gas mixture. The design can be of any size and shape. Ideally, this is a tank with a hollow pad where food can be heated.
  4. Smoke pipes for effective traction.

To make the stove yourself you need to have good skills of the welder. Weld seams must ensure tightness.

Manufacturing tank for testing

An alternative to a welded tank can be an unsuitable gas cylinder or a canister with thick walls, but in any case 3 basic requirements are mandatory:

  1. The design must be at least partially collapsible for the possibility of its periodic cleaning.
  2. The hole for connecting the injector must be located in the center.
  3. The filling hatch should be equipped with an adjusting flap on the bolted joint. With its help regulate the intensity of combustion.

It is easiest to manufacture the tank from large diameter pipes. Bottom and legs are welded to one piece of pipe with a diameter of about 35 cm. In order to close the tank, take a small piece of pipe of a slightly larger diameter, weld to it the lid, then make 2 holes in it - one control with a diameter of about 60 mm and the other under injector.

The design of the stove
This design of the stove is very compact. Working out fill the tank (2). For the system to work, in the process of burning the flames must reach the injector. As soon as the liquid level drops and the flame stops falling into the injector, the furnace will stop (+)

The height of the side 2 parts should be 1/3 of the height of the lower container. The total height of the tank, measured from its bottom to the central opening on the lid, is 10–15 cm. Kindle fuel in the tank using paper or cloth soaked in kerosene. They are set on fire and lowered into the container through the control hole. Working off will have to constantly be topped up in order to maintain the level of 2/3 of the tank height.

How to make an injector

The optimum diameter of the pipe for the manufacture of the injector is 10 cm, the minimum wall thickness is 0.8 cm. To calculate its height, take the length of the chimney, divide it by 10. Five percent subtract from the result and get the desired value. It should be between 36 - 38 cm. This is a condition of normal thrust.

Injector
After all holes are drilled, it is necessary to grind the inner surface of the pipe well. Next, the pipe, turned into an injector, is welded to the previously completed tank opening vertically

The holes made in the walls of the pipe in staggered order or simply evenly distributed over the surface have a diameter of 0.9 - 0.95 cm. Bottom and top of the pipe indent 2 - 2.5 cm and 5.5 - 6 cm, respectively.

Basic version of the heat exchanger

The minimum thickness of the walls of the heat exchange capacity is 0.3 cm. Make it on the same technology as the tank for fuel. The top is better to do flat, and the hole for the chimney needs to be shifted, then it will be possible, if necessary, to put a griddle or kettle on the stove.

Inside the hollow vessel make the partition, creating a labyrinth for better heat transfer. Moreover, the thicker this part is, the hotter the surface of the stove-stove will be. In order to clean the heat exchanger from soot, they make a special hatch on the side and close it with a lid. A duct is welded to the hole intended for the chimney - a pipe with a height of 5 to 10 cm and a diameter of 10 cm.

What to make a chimney

In order for the combustion products leaving the pipe to have the lowest possible temperature, that part of the pipe that is in the room must be made of steel. Due to this, the smoke gives its temperature to the walls of the chimney, cools, increasing the residual heat transfer.

An ordinary pipe made of tin can serve as a continuation of the chimney from the outside, but it will have to be insulated to prevent the accumulation of soot during the cold period. Insulated pipe - the best option, but more expensive. The joints of the pipe sections are not necessary to seal. The pipes themselves may be of different diameters, but directly connect the one with a smaller diameter to the furnace.

Creating a stove-stove from a gas cylinder

Another version of the design of the furnace for working off is a self-made stove based on a 50-liter gas cylinder. In addition to this basic element, you need to prepare 2 steel pipes with a wall of about 4 mm and a diameter of 10 cm. One of them will remove burning gases, and the second will play the role of a heat exchanger.

To this should be added 4 mm steel sheet for the visor above the heat exchanger and the partition separating the evaporator and the combustion chamber. For the evaporating chamber itself, you will need a brake disc from a car with such a diameter that it effortlessly entered the balloon. A piece of 0.5-inch pipe is needed to transport oil into the combustion chamber.

Balloon
From the cylinder in use turns out excellent potbelly stove. Although there is no gas in it, but it is better to be safe - hold the cylinder for some time outside with the valve open. Soap suds are applied around the outlet. When it stops bubbling, the valve is twisted, if it is removable, if not, the condensate is drained in another way.

In addition, you should keep in stock an equilateral steel angle with a shelf of 50 mm and a length of more than 1 m, 0.5 inch valve, clamps for sealing - 2 pcs., hose, any cylinder equipped with a needle the valve.

Dismantling valve
The valve is dismantled using a gas or adjustable wrench. After clearing the vessel of all residues, it can be cut, perform welding

The work on the creation of the stove is done in a certain order. First, the balloon is turned upside down and a small hole is drilled in it. Such a measure as wetting the drill and the place of drilling with oil will prevent sparking.

Free the container from gas condensate. Carefully drain it away from the shelter, because its unpleasant smell persists for a long time. Then the workpiece is filled with water, after which it is again drained, thus removing residual gas. Since the mixture is explosive, there should not be a source of open flame nearby.

Cut out in the body of the cylinder 2 rectangles of the same width, equal to 1/3 of the diameter of the workpiece. The height of the lower rectangle is 20 cm, the second one, located 5 cm above the first, is 40 cm. To separate the chambers, a circle with a diameter equal to the inner diameter of the vessel is cut out of the sheet. In the middle of it a hole is made for a pipe with a diameter of 10 cm. This part will separate the combustion chamber from the heat exchanger.

The burner is made of a pipe with a length of 20 and a diameter of 10 cm. Its lower part is perforated by making holes about 2 cm in diameter. Burrs the inside of the burr, otherwise they will collect soot on themselves, which will significantly narrow the hole later. Put on the burner previously cut circle, having it exactly in the middle, welded. The design is placed inside the stove and perform a welding seam around the circumference of the cylinder.

Bottom the bottom and cover on the brake disk. It will be a pan or bowl evaporator. To supply fuel in the lid, an opening is left through which air will flow into the stove. The opening is made fairly wide, otherwise the thrust will decrease and the oil will not fall into the bowl. Pile pipe on top of the lid. A pipe with a diameter of 10 cm makes a coupling that connects the bowl to the burner. Assemble the fuel supply system, for which:

  • make in the pallet receiving hole;
  • insert into it at an angle of about 40 под section of the water pipe 0.5 inches;
  • weld the pipe to the furnace body;
  • screw emergency pipe to the pipe, the role of which is played by an ordinary water tap.

The heat exchanger is made from a pipe with a section of 10 cm. It is cut horizontally into the body of the stove, and at the end of the mount reflector. Arrange inflating by installing a duct fan at the end of the heat exchanger. The air driven through the heat exchanger with its help, has great speed.

Connection fan ora
In order to make the system more manageable, it is automated by connecting a thermal switch to the duct fan. This solution allows you to set the required temperature.

Inside the heat exchanger is placed an air swirler consisting of triangular teeth interconnected by welding. A chimney is made from a 10 cm pipe. It is welded into the hole located in the upper part of the furnace body and led through the wall to the roof of the building.

Chimney
It is better to place the pipe section passing through the enclosing structure into a refractory glass, and a metal sheet should be attached at the entry point.

Further engaged in the manufacture of an oil tank. If there is a freon-free cylinder with a serviceable needle valve, then it is quite suitable for this purpose. The vessel and the furnace-stove connect a hose connected to the valve. To fill the waste oil in the tank body make a hole.

To ensure air access to the burner and the evaporator cup in the door of the lower compartment, select a groove. To the aperture of the upper chamber door, stop plates are attached, which ensures reliable sealing of the combustion chamber. With the same purpose, the door is additionally equipped with a lock. Now, even with the deformation of the body of the stove as a result of strong heating, the tightness of the combustion chamber will not be broken.

It remains to weld the legs from the corner pieces to the body and place the furnace vertically. In addition to the stoves in a vertical version, horizontally placed stoves are also made of a balloon. Their device is similar.

Potbelly stove plus water circuit

Any home will not prevent the presence of an emergency source of heat. An ordinary, but slightly modernized, stove can play its role. It is possible to improve the furnace in two ways - put a water jacket on the burner tube or wrap its body with a coil of copper pipes.

The coils of the coil are placed at a distance of about 5 cm from the perforated body of the stove and connected to a common heating system. A reflective screen is installed around the coil. For its manufacture use sheet aluminum, galvanized steel, tin.

The water shirt is a tank on the upper chamber of the stove. In its case should be 2 fittings - one for the supply, and the other for water drainage. In general, the design resembles a samovar. The volume of the water jacket depends on the length of the heating system and the method of circulation of the coolant.

Water circuit
Practically, the issue of water circuit devices is solved by installing the container directly on the stove. Through the exit to the heating system, hot water flows into the latter. Going in a circle, she dabs heat to the room and returns to the tank.

If a pump is installed in the system, the volume of the tank is small, and with natural circulation it has impressive dimensions. To control the parameters of water, a pressure gauge and a thermometer are installed on the tank.

Drops stove for testing

Independently, you can make and economical model drip stove. For the case, a metal barrel of a small volume or another capacity available on the holding is suitable. A hole is made in the housing through which the oil will flow. Next, take a torch with a capacity of about 2 liters, connect a copper tube with a length of 1 m to its hose, and then fold it in half.

Drip potbelly stove
Such a unit, working on waste oil, can smoke, so the room in which it is installed must have good ventilation.

A hole is made in the container along the diameter of the tube. The tube itself is given the shape of the letter “G”, and the burner is suspended.

Alteration of a solid fuel stove for mining

When the household already has a stove, but the fact that it works on solid fuel does not suit, you can upgrade it and it will become universal. To do this, make the console, resembling in its design the stove on processing in its lower part.

Here, too, there is a perforated tube, but not straight, but bent at a right angle. It is connected to the side wall of the furnace, which acts as a final combustion chamber. If the door of the stove is brewed and a hole is made in it for the pipe to enter, then the furnace will work only during working out.

Combined Potbelly Stove
Modernization of this furnace is not only in addition to its special prefix, but also in original decision to protect nearby objects from fire using the principle convection. To do this, pipes were welded to the side wall of the furnace. Cold air flowing into them from below cools the structure.

To be able to use for heating not only technical oil, but also firewood, make two interchangeable doors. The standard one is hung when the laying of firewood is planned, and the modernized one with the corresponding hole - when the furnace will function on waste oil.

Secrets of the successful operation of the stove

To work burner, working on waste oil, was effective and safe, you need to follow a few tips. Oil must be allowed to stand before use. Pour it into the tank for oil need to 2/3 of the volume of the latter.

For safety reasons, all elements of the stove should be regularly cleaned. To simplify this task, its upper module must be removable. This will provide access to the chamber where the mixture burns. To remove soot from the walls of the chimney, it should be knocked.

To extend the operational life of the combustion chamber and the furnace as a whole, it is necessary to paint it using paints resistant to high temperatures. Install the stove should be on a non-combustible basis. It can not be placed on the draft, under the influence of which the flame can escape out.

The author of this material tells about his experience in the manufacture of beetles, working on working out. Perhaps some of his statements are controversial, but in general there are many useful things:

The improved design of the stove-stove. Details of its creation is divided by the author of this video:

His invention is shared by this video author:

The stove is a simple design, but to make it yourself, you need drawings with exact dimensions. The design, made on the "eye", not only does not provide heat, but also becomes a source of various troubles in the form of soot, sprinkled oil and numerous alterations. Starting the manufacture of such a unit makes sense only when it is possible to provide it with fuel. Otherwise, its operation will be economically disadvantageous.
