Pepper diseases - causes, treatment, drugs and drugs

Last season I noticed that on some bushes of Bulgarian (sweet) pepper appeared twisted leaves. Some leaves were as if curly. Immediately it was difficult to understand - this is the result of pepper disease, or lack of some elements of nutrition in the soil, or pests interfere with the plants to develop normally. Began to look for the cause. It turned out that there are a lot of them and they are all different.

Leaves of peppers can curl for the innocent reasons. In any year, it may happen that there is not enough sunlight, for example, cloudy days stand and leaves begin to develop with defects: the veins of the leaf grow, and the leaf blades hamper growth. The same happens with pepper leaves if the plant does not have enough heat. How can you help? We have not learned to correct the weather yet.

From the lack of potassium in the soil, too, the pepper leaves twist. As soon as you notice the first such leaves, feed the peppers with saltpetre. To do this, 1 tablespoon of saltpeter dissolve in 5 liters of water. For each plant is enough, a liter of solution. But do not forget to add peppers before adding the top dressing. In general, any plants are fertilized on wet soil. Immediately after this, under each plant, fill half a glass of wood ash.

There are also a lot of pests that cause leaf curl in peppers. These are aphids and spider mites. If you notice yellowing with spots on the leaves of peppers, then this is one of the first signs of damage to aphid pepper. This is the reason for the twisting and yellowing of the pepper leaves in the picture above.

And if there appeared on the bushes thin cobwebs thread, then there settled a spider mite.

To combat such pests, you can apply insecticide Aktara, Bi-58.

By the way, the tested folk remedies also give a good effect. But it's a little tricky to cook them.

Brew in 1 liter of boiling water 1 cup of onion husk. Leave to infuse for 24 hours. Strain and sprinkle with this infusion of plants. Treat every 5 days for 3 weeks.

To combat the spider mite, the following mixture can be used. Chop the onion grinder (or garlic) together with dandelion leaves. Should get 1 cup of onion gruel (garlic) and 1 cup of gruel from the leaves of a dandelion. Mix the onion or garlic-dandelion mixture and add 1 tablespoon of liquid soap for better adherence. All pour 10 liters of water and allow the solution to infuse for 2-3 hours. With such a solution, peppers can be processed from a spider mites at any stage of plant development, even with fruits. It will not harm a person, it is only poisonous to pests.

Another disease that often affects pepper is vertex rot. With this disease, the leaves can also be curled. But in addition to everything on the fruits themselves appear deep black spots, as a result of the pepper rots directly on the bush, and the leaves are twisted. The first cause of this disease is a lack of moisture, as well as a large amount of nitrogen in the soil and calcium deficiency.

How to deal with the vertex rot of pepper? Firstly, peppers need abundant regular watering. Secondly, spraying with a solution of calcium nitrate. For foliar treatment, prepare a% solution (20 g of saltpeter per 10 liters of water). Calcium nitrate can be replaced with calcium chloride. In pharmacies are sold ampoules with 10% calcium chloride. Dilute this ampoule in 30 parts water. With a solution of this concentration, sprinkle the plants. If the disease is started, then the treatment can be repeated in a week.

During the whole period of the fight against the disease, it is necessary to tear off the infected fruits.
