Fertilizers for conifers or how to feed evergreens?

Content of the article:

A few years ago, I planted juniper and spruce in my summer cottage, but I can't understand why they grow poorly in me. I water regularly, and our winters are not very cold. Maybe they do not have enough food? I use manure in the garden, but I don’t know if it is suitable for my pets. Tell me, what fertilizers can be used for coniferous plants?
Coniferous trees and shrubs are quite unpretentious in care and do not require special nutrition. Evergreen crops do not have the property of shedding leaves, so they do not need additional feedings for recovery. However, a small supply of nutrients is still useful, because the annual growth in conifers is not very active.

Special mineral complex preparations containing magnesium, potassium, phosphorus are most effective for fertilizing coniferous plants.

Shoping fertilizers

From ready-made preparations for fertilizing coniferous plants are popular:

  1. Coniferous Lux brand fertilizer for spring and summer fertilizing. In the spring, add the appropriate preparation to the soil in the pure form, and in the summer, apply a second type of fertilizer for root dressings with a solution( 1 tablespoon per 20 liters of water).
  2. Aquarin coniferous ( activates growth, prevents color loss).Apply to root dressings: dissolve 20 g of the drug in a bucket of water. Fertilize 3-5 times during the season.
  3. Green needle ( for the prevention and treatment of browning needles as a result of magnesium deficiency).Sprinkle around the plants, put them in the soil and water. Apply 2 times during the season, spring and summer. The application rate ranges from 50 to 250 g, depending on the height of conifers.
  4. Agrekol "100 days for conifers." Prolonged fertilizer, 1-2 additions per season are enough. It can be used for planting( from 10 to 50 g depending on the type of plants) and as an additional top dressing in the amount of 50 g for shrubs and 60 g for each meter of the height of coniferous trees. To scatter the granules around the plantations and pour the soil.

Organics for conifers - is it possible or not?

Unlike garden crops, which respond well to spreading manure, representatives of the coniferous group do not like it very much. Manure contains a large amount of nitrogen, which provokes the active formation of shoots. Most of them, by the arrival of winter, simply will not have time to mature and die, and the rest may turn yellow from excess nitrogen, which will lead to a loss of decoration.

The exception is rotted compost, it is a bit like natural, forest, soil. In the spring after loosening the near-wellbore circles, they should sprinkle the earth around the coniferous plantations.
