How to repair the headphones yourself if they are broken
It’s a pity if the headphones broke, especially in cases when they were recently bought, loved ones or just very comfortable. However, damage to the headphones happen quite often. In some cases, nothing else is left but to change them for new ones, but sometimes you can repair it.

- Intermittent loss of sound or silence on one side means a problem with the wires.
- A hoarse, rattle and a faint sound indicate a faulty speaker.
Here's what to do if the sound periodically disappears. First check that the plug is well inserted. If this is normal, then proceed to the study of the wire.
To determine the weak spot on the wire, you need to turn on the headphones, and in the process of listening to music, bend and straighten the wire in different places. We must gradually walk along the length of the entire wire. If the sound disappears in some place of the fold, then this is a weak connection point.
At the break point, the wire should be bite off with nippers, carefully cleaned and firmly reassembled.
If the sound on the headphones is completely gone, then the final line break has occurred. Most often it happens in the area of the plug, but what to do if a break occurs in some other place? You can cut the wire and check the remaining piece with an ohmmeter for resistance.
The electrical connector can be not changed, but repaired. To do this, it is dismantled, find where it connects to the wires. Next, connect to the connector three pre-protected wiring from the headphone. It should be remembered that the signal of the left channel comes to the tip of the connector, to the middle - to the right, and the rear part corresponds to the mass.
How to connect a new plug
Suppose we cut a piece of wire in the right place near the plug. What to do next, how to replace it?
Most headphones have a 3.5 mm TRS plug - the so-called mini-jack. It can be purchased at any radio equipment store. You can also buy the cheapest headphones and take the plug with a wire from them. Then clean the wires and solder. You can simply twist, but the soldering will be better and more reliable. Will only insulate the junction. For this, a heat shrink tube is suitable as the best option, as an alternative - insulating tape or adhesive tape.
How to fix other damages
It happens that the plug has nothing to do with, and an open or weak connection is in the area of the earpiece speaker. So it is necessary to disassemble the earpiece with a speaker, disconnect it, cut and strip the wire at the top. To ensure better contact, the ends are singed and tinned. Next, you need to clear the connection pads directly on the earpiece, tin them and solder the wires to them.
Sometimes there are problems with the membrane, which leads to a rattling sound. In this case it is necessary to disassemble the cup, clean the mesh with alcohol and clean the membrane. If the membrane is wrinkled, it is carefully leveled, and then think about buying new headphones. More serious problems with the speaker are unlikely to be solved. We'll have to look for a new, more reliable model, and not spend time on repairs.
