Causes of malfunction

The causes of damage to the hatch cuff may be due to physical wear or mechanical damage. We want to warn that if used properly, the rubber will last much longer. She could be harmed:

  • use of caustic chemicals for washing;
  • frequent washing of solid products (sneakers, heavy outerwear, baseball caps, etc.);
  • hit foreign objects into the hatch;
  • rough loading or retrieval of things.

You quickly determine that a replacement is necessary if water starts to appear near the washing machine. The time it takes to change the cuff depends on the complexity of the machine's design. Sometimes it is 15-20 minutes, and sometimes - more than an hour.

Removal of the first clamp

First you need to find a new cuff, completely identical to the victim. Rubber should be soft and flexible. Before carrying out work, the cord of the washing machine must be disconnected from the mains. A set of tools that will be needed when replacing rubber for the hatch is small: a flat screwdriver and a socket wrench. It can be said that the replacement of the cuff consists of several stages, and the first of them is the simplest.

Remove the yoke that holds the curved part of the rubber in the front groove. Usually seen from the side, plastic clamp or spring.

  • To remove the plastic yoke, you must pull it to yourself in the place where the latches are located.
  • To remove the spring clip, unscrew the screw or pry the spring with a screwdriver and pull it toward you.

When the collar is removed, it is possible to freely bend the edge of the manhole cuff and pull it off the nozzle of the dispenser located at the top.

Removal of the second clamp

.

After this, it is necessary to remove the second, inner yoke, with which the cuff is clamped. Here the differences begin, since it is not always easy to get to this clamp. Sometimes in the washing machine you can unscrew and remove the bottom panel, and from below thrust your hand. However, you often have to remove the entire front panel with a hatch.

Be careful not to drop the panel on the foot, and do not scratch it. This is not very difficult, but the longest part of the work. You can take pictures of all the stages in order not to get confused in the sequence and know which bolt to screw into. In this case, there will be a guarantee that the replacement will be successful.

When you got to the second clamp and removed it, pay attention to the label that shows the position in which the cuff should be installed. This label is a small rubber triangle on the cuff. It must be combined with a triangle on the tank of the washing machine.

.

If the rubber is installed incorrectly, there will be no full sealing, and the drainage system will be broken. This must be remembered when you decide to change the rubber band for the hatch.

The freed grooves should be wiped, cleaned of dirt, plaque. Now you can proceed to the next stage.

Installation of new sealing rubber

Before you put a new rubber, you should grease the groove with a detergent so that it is slippery. This will simplify the installation process. Replacing the sealing cuff of the hatch during the installation phase is not much more difficult than removing.

The cuff has a large diameter on one side and small on the other. First insert a piece with a large diameter. It is necessary that the marks on the rubber and on the tank coincide. When the rubber is inserted, install the rear clamp and secure it so that it holds the cuff. Assemble all parts in the reverse order, so that your washing machine has a front panel again.

At the last stage, the rubber should be pulled on itself, straighten it and fill the pipe in the hole. A smaller diameter should be tightened to the front edge and gently refilled. It remains only to install the front yoke. The installation begins with a spring, inserting it and holding it by the knee. You should make some effort.

When everything is ready, close the hatch, make sure that everything is done correctly and run a trial wash.
