On the backyards of Russians, various varieties of plums are grown everywhere. However, despite the continued interest in the culture, the yellow plum is not a frequent visitor. The reason is the opinion that it is more correct to consider yellow-fruit varieties to be cherry plum, and real amber plum fruits can be obtained only in the southern regions. This is not true! Breeders really use cherry plum, Chinese and domestic plum. Taking from the ancestors only the best, new varieties get better winter hardiness and yield, the fruits become sweeter and larger.

Yellow plum fruits are equally good in fresh and canned form. Dessert jam, marmalade and jam are made from bright fragrant plums.

Today, gardeners have dozens of interesting varieties for all over the country. Many of them are the result of the work of enthusiasts of the Far East, Siberia and the Urals. There is a yellow plum for the Moscow region and the North-West. Excellent varieties of different ripening terms are bred for the more southern regions from the Central Chernozem Region to the Kuban and Crimea.

Yellow plum Altai jubilee

Many varieties of yellow plum are descended from the Chinese, Manchurian, Ussurian varieties. Such plants are hardy, unpretentious and usually fruitful. No exception - the Altai anniversary variety. The plum, capable of hibernating and well bearing fruit beyond the Urals, is different:

  • in early ripening periods;
  • is fast, already by 3-4 years of entry into the fruiting season;
  • high yield;
  • harmonious sweet-sour taste;
  • an attractive kind of ripe fruit.

The peculiarity of the variety is small, with a mass of 14 to 18 grams, fruits with yellow pulp and the same thin skin in a warm, sunny summer covered with a red-pink blush. A bright topcoat can occupy almost the entire surface of the plum, forcing you to forget that there is a yellow fruit in front of you.

A variety of early yellow plum forms a medium-sized tree with a small shtamb and a moderately dense crown. Like most plums of this variety, the Altai Jubilee is self-infertile. Therefore, for stable crop yields need pollinating plants.

Plum variety Renklod Green

The Renklod family of plums traces its history from ancient varieties from Spain and France. From the south of Europe, Renklod green came to the territory of Russia, in the 19th century and in Soviet times it was distributed to the south of the Central Black Soil Region.

The variety of yellow plum differs in early fruiting and begins to form the ovaries by the age of five. And in 2–4 years from a tree, you can get up to 40 kg of yellowish-green fruit with dense sweet pulp. Although in appearance the plums of green greenwood are inferior to modern large-fruited, ruddy varieties, they are still considered to be an excellent raw material for jam, marmalade or jam.

Fully self-fertile, no yellow plums. To obtain excellent yield from green greenwood and this old variety will require pollinators, among which may be at the same time flowering varieties of Hungarian or another old yellow plum - Egg.

Plum Yellow Renklod Collective Farm

IV Michurin was interested in the excellent taste qualities of the green deck of green. In order to obtain a yellow-fruited variety with greater winter hardiness, he crossed the thermophilic "Frenchman" with a dwarf. In 1947, the new Renklod collective farm was entered into the State Register and recommended for cultivation in the North-West, in the middle lane and in the chernozem regions of the country.

Yellow plums of round shape weighing up to 25 grams ripen on middle-growth trees with round crown. The flesh of the fruit, like the thin skin, has a yellowish-green hue and a pleasant sweet-sour taste. In contrast to the green leaf plum of the Michurin variety, they accumulate less sugar, but at the same time, they are juicier, and their harvests are annual.

Yellow plum Honey white

Donetsk breeders bred yellow Honey plum. In Russian conditions, this heat-loving variety can be grown without restrictions in the Central Black Earth and south, however, with proper preparation for winter, trees feel good in the Moscow region, yellow plum also grows in the Kaliningrad region and other areas of the middle belt.

Oval fruits with a thin, seemingly transparent skin and weighing up to 50 grams have a bright honey taste. Plum pulp with easily detachable bone has a greenish or yellow color. The yellow skin on the sun becomes amber-orange, ruddy.


Honey yellow plum is resistant to many diseases of the crop, endures dry periods without loss, and the picked fruits can be transported and stored in time.

The yellow variety of plums from the Hopts.

The gardeners of the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East are familiar with the yellow Hops, obtained in the first half of the last century. The first ovaries on the sprawling tall trees of this species appear in the fourth year of life. Harvesting takes place at the end of the summer and the first weeks of September. Variety shows excellent winter hardiness and endurance.

Sunny-yellow plums of this variety are:

  • small size;
  • weight up to 15 grams;
  • juicy, with a light aroma pulp;
  • harmonious sweet-sour taste;
  • bitter skin;
  • large, easily separated bone from the pulp;
  • is a rounded shape with an inconspicuous seam.

When planting and caring for the yellow plum of this variety, it is important to take into account the height of adult plants, as well as the need for pollinators.

Gentle skin is damaged during transportation and long storage. The fruits are consumed fresh, and also used as a raw material for jam and jam. In the compote skin plum retains a bitter taste.

plum Late yellow plum Golden large

Gardeners of the Lower Volga and other southern regions will like the Golden Plum variety large golden. The large-fruited, drought-resistant variety that begins to form the ovary from the age of 4 yields 25–30 kg per tree. The weight of light yellow plums with excellent sweet taste reaches 40 grams. On the peel covered with a noticeable wax coating during sunny weeks a beautiful blush is formed.

A distinctive feature of this variety of yellow plum is the possibility of ripening the fruit and keeping it cool for 30–45 days.

Plum variety Skoroplodnaya

As a result of crossing American and Ussurian plum varieties, yellow Skoroplodna plum with dessert fruits weighing up to 20 grams appeared. Amber with a red blush plum delight:

  • dense melting pulp;
  • pleasant sweet and sour taste.

Early yellow plum is ready for harvest in the first half of August. Unfortunately, fruiting is irregular and not overly abundant. But this is offset by excellent winter hardiness and resistance to disease and many pests.

Variety of yellow plum Testament

Based on the Manchurian variety, for the Volga-Vyatka region, a winter-hardy variety of Testament was obtained with medium-sized trees and almost round yellow fruits weighing from 25 to 30 grams.

Plums with yellow, sweet and sour pulp ripen in late August and early September. Due to its light aroma and excellent taste, the variety received high marks from tasters and was recognized as universal. Ripe fruits can be transported, they make excellent jams and compotes.

The advantages of the variety include high winter hardiness and durability. With proper planting and care for the yellow plum, with timely rejuvenating pruning, the trees bear fruit for 4 to 30 years.
