Soil Requirements

The maintenance of indoor violets begins with the preparation of the correct substrate and container for the plant. For planting, an acidic composition is taken, including peat, dried peat moss, leaf sand and charcoal. Moreover, moss and coal should not be more than 10% of the total composition of the main ingredients:

  • peat - 3 volumes;
  • leaf ground - 5 volumes;
  • sand large river - 1 part.

Experts advise to add perlite and vermiculite to peat, which contribute to the retention of moisture in light soil. Poor composition requires the addition of nutrition in the growth process. In order for a clod of earth not to turn sour, it must be sufficient for the development of roots, but without excesses. So, for an adult plant, a cup with a height and a diameter of 10 cm is enough, while its lower part should consist of drainage filling.

Until the root system fills the pot with soil, the plant will not bloom. For breeding, the first dish may be 6 cm in diameter. The drain hole everywhere must be large enough. The plant is transplanted once every three years, and it is not necessary to change the capacity of the pot; you can only change the ground, carefully cleaning the roots as much as possible.

Reproduction and transplanting violets

Planting and caring for violet at home begins with the production of a young plant. Reproduction can be conducted:

  • leaves;
  • cuttings;
  • seed;
  • rooting peduncle.

The simplest, most often used method is leaf rooting. Before rooting, the cut of the leaflet should be updated, while making it diagonally on the leaf with a disinfected instrument and lowering the cut into water until callus and roots form.

When the length of the roots is 4-7 cm, the leaf can be rooted, covered up from excessive evaporation and wait for the results to appear. Appeared small plants as they grow up are seated in separate containers. Such plants will bloom with good care after a year.

Hybrid violets, called chimeras, can only be propagated by stepsons and peduncles that transmit maternal qualities. The stepson can be separated from the main outlet with the help of sewing and rooted immediately in a peat tablet.

When transplanting plants, you must make sure that the root system is healthy. The roots of the plant are white, lively and fill the entire capacity. When taken out of a conical cache, retain its shape. This is the basis for one of the methods of watering a plant, for which an external pillow is being soaked through a filter. For this, a well-designed plant is arranged in a larger pot with a wet substrate in a special nest.

Revision of the root system is to remove all brown dead roots. Leave only bright live healthy roots. With this treatment, the plant can be washed in water, and the roots straighten and plant in a prepared pot. If the rot eaten root, clean the plant to a living tissue, sprinkle with activated charcoal and dry, and then re-root in water or in moss, which has antibacterial properties.

Plants feel good in summer at temperatures up to 25, in winter at 18-20.Dry air should be about 50%.The plant requires a year-round day duration of at least 10 hours, and during periods of flowering local lighting fluorescent lamps.

If watering is done through a drip tray, then excess water should be drained. When watering in the pot, do not wet the leaves. In the summer, water is watered every day, in winter - 2 times a week. The young plant will bloom in a year, not earlier.

If properly cared for, a photo of violets at home will be a reward.

Plants usually bloom for about 2 months, with flowers that have faded and have lost their decorative effect and need to be plucked.

A plant will not bloom if its maintenance conditions are violated or if parasites or diseases are created in the bush. Enemies need to know in person and be able to deal with them.
