Depending on the installation method, the door valves are divided into two types:
- Mortise;
- Overhead.
The main advantages of gate valves are their affordable cost and simplicity of design. The vast majority of such and other similar products are cheap and compact devices.
The main structural element of the door valve is the crossbar. Its shape can be both round and rectangular. The crossbar, which entered the recess of the door frame, provides blocking of the opening of the structure.
Door chains
They represent a fairly effective element of protection for entrance doors. Chains are usually placed on the inside of the door. Being freely located, they allow you to slightly open the canvas of the structure, while preventing it from completely swinging open and, as a result, penetration of unauthorized persons into the room.
The essence of mounting the door chain involves securing it with a head-lock on the side of the door frame, for which long screws are usually used. On the canvas of the structure, in turn, is placed a special fittings, also installed with the help of long screws.
Features of selection and installation
When choosing door latches or chains, attention should be paid primarily to the quality of the material. The best material for their manufacture is dense hardened steel. Products only from it are able to effectively prevent cracking and, as a result, breakage.
It also matters where the installation of the door valve and other protective equipment is carried out. Ideally, they should be mounted on a sturdy and solid door frame. Otherwise, even a slight effort may be enough to destroy the material of the structure and, as a result, penetrate the room. Neither the valve nor the chain will help in this case.
