Why the plastic window cracked and how to fix it

During operation on PVC windows, various deformations, for example, cracks, can occur. Windows are usually deformed either on the frame or on the slope. Sometimes cracks occur on window sills, slopes. Having discovered damage, you can either repair the window or change it to another.

The causes of cracks in the plastic window, methods for fixing the defect

Cracks in the plastic window may appear for the following reasons:

1. Skewed window construction. The loads are distributed unevenly, therefore, when the limit value is reached, the plastic profile may not cope with the load and crack. The only way out of the situation is to reinstall a new window, following the correct installation.
2. The cold. This reason for crackling is relevant for regions of the Russian Federation with cold winters. To prevent cracking in winter, buy windows from reliable manufacturers: Rehau, KBE, Kaleva. Prefer triple-glazed structures with 5 cameras, as they are less susceptible to low temperature effects.
3. Poor welds. This reason is relevant if you purchased cheap PVC windows from an unreliable manufacturer. You can treat the defect with a sealant to seal the seams.

4. Snapping the wings. If the flaps were slammed shut when a solid object was placed between them, the window may crack. If this happens, use white or transparent silicone-based sealant to seal damaged areas.
5. High load on the windowsill. If high loads are regularly placed on the windowsill, it may not be able to withstand them and deform with part of the window. Fill cracks with mounting foam. Remove the parts of the foam that protrude with a clerical knife. Seal the top of the foam with an acrylic based sealant (flush with the wall surface).

Cracks that appear on PVC windows can and should even be fought. Unfortunately, usually closing them up is a temporary measure. If wind, precipitation starts to enter the room through a damaged window structure, think about buying a new window. The comfort, coziness and health of family members cost much more money that will be spent on acquiring a window.
