Since connecting a light switch with your own hands is very simple, everything can be done without the help of specialists.

Kinds

There are various types of light switches that are used to control lamps in an apartment or house. Consider the main ones:

1. Single-key;
2. Two-key;
3. Three-key;
4. Sensory;
5. Remote.

The single-key light switch is the simplest of all. A metal bracket is installed in the device case using a screw connection. She controls the shut-off plate. On the sides of the bracket are paws, with which the whole structure is installed in the box. Also in the case is a compartment with wires.

The two-key switch consists of two single-key switches in one housing. A feature is a larger number of wire groups. You can connect chandeliers with a large number of bulbs or several lamps in different rooms. Three-key models have a similar design.

The touch model works due to an electrical circuit built into the housing. Often equipped with a diode, backlight or shutdown controller. A special infrared indicator is installed in the box, which recognizes the heat of the human body and closes the lamp contacts. The indicator model is often used in public places.

Remote is perfect for controlling the lighting of a large house or apartment. It consists of a switch equipped with a signal receiver and a control unit. You can turn on and off the light directly from the unit or using the remote control for this purpose. It is mainly used in various complexes, as well as in the Smart Home system.

How to connect a single-key

For work, you will need the selected switch, junction box and lamp to which you will be connected. Directly connecting a one-button model is very simple. How to connect a single-button light switch to one light bulb:

1. The phase wire of the power supply network must be connected only through the contacts of the switching device, otherwise the lamp will always be energized, which is very dangerous. The phase is always connected to break. Very often, home masters install a gap connection on the neutral wire, which can cause a short circuit or even a fire;
2. Next, connect the wires of the wall light switch and the lighting device with power in series. Power phase - to the switch, zero lamp to zero phase, lamp phase with zero switch.

It is more difficult to establish a connection to several lamps. There you need to take into account the phase wires of several consumers at once. Just be careful and strictly follow the voiced pattern. It works as follows: when the light switch is turned on (up position), an electric current begins to flow to the lamp. If the key is lowered down, the chain breaks and the flow of directed particles stops.

Connecting a two-key model

The standard two-button light switch is designed to control various lighting devices or several groups of one lamp from a single place. Most often they are used if there are more than 2 lamps in the chandelier (5.6). At the same time, you need to know that two keys are used to control only two groups, if the lamp is divided into a larger number of them, then you need to use the triple switch.

How to connect the two-key light switch yourself:

1. In this model, there are three contacts - input and two outputs. At the same time, the phase from the distribution box is connected to the input contact, and the conclusions are needed to control individual groups of the chandelier;
2. In the junction box, you need to bring the phase wire of the network and its zero;
3. First of all, all the zero conductors are connected to each other. Phase is led to the input of an electric light switch;
4. It also has wires for each group of lamps. They are most often separated by color coding. So that each group can burn independently of the other, each needs to be connected to a separate phase conductor. For example, the cable is yellow and gray: yellow is assigned to group 1, and gray - to group 2;
5. The zero wire of the switch is connected to the zeros of the lamps and the network;
6. It remains only to insulate the conductors.

In this case, the double light switch can be connected so that when you turn off one group (main), the second (additional) also turns off, then the circuit will be slightly different. It is necessary to switch the device not each group individually, but both at once. Triple can be connected in a similar way. The main thing is that when the keys are turned off, the phase is disconnected, and not zero.

It is also very often required to connect the switch to a sconce lamp and socket. This saves a lot of room in the room reserved for electrical outlets. Then the circuit has the following form:

1. The socket is installed in parallel to the supply wires. Phase, respectively, to the phase of the network, and zero to zero;
2. The order of turning on the lamp does not change, we do everything the same as described above.

How to install a checkpoint

Now it’s very popular to install switches that allow you to disconnect one group from different parts of the room. Let's consider how to connect the light-through switches in a right way:

1. The junction box is taken into account in the scheme, because without it it will be difficult to make a connection;
2. It is necessary to insert the phase neutral wire into the switch box and connect it to the zero of the lamp. The central phase cable is connected to the input contact of one of the switches to choose from;
3. After that, two switched contacts of one switch must be connected to the analogous terminals of the second;
4. Now, after connecting the switches, the phase from one (to which it was connected earlier) is transferred to the second. Everything fits into the box and closes.

Be sure to isolate all the contacts, otherwise they will be short. Many experts recommend using a soldering of contacts - it is more reliable and durable than electrical tape.
