Installation of platbands can be carried out in several ways. To do this, it is not necessary to use a hammer or nails. Indeed, often inept handling of nails and too soft structure of the material can lead to damage to the structure.
Installation of platbands with liquid nails
It is recommended to use this method if the decorative elements of the door structure are made not of solid wood, but MDF. Before using liquid nails, it is imperative to smooth the surfaces, clean them from dust and degrease them.
Adhesive with a special "gun" is applied to the inside of the platbands. Application should be uniform and quick, which will prevent premature drying of the material. After the manipulations, you need to strongly press the platband to the base of the doorway, evenly distributing the load. Soak for about 2-3 minutes. For safety, you can use high-quality double-sided tape fixed on the back of the clypeus.
This method is very popular, because with proper application, liquid nails do not spoil the appearance of platbands and reliably adhere them to the base. The only drawback is that in the case of dismantling it will not be possible to do without special tools.
Self-tapping
Replace standard nails with self-tapping screws that securely fasten the structure and do not spoil its appearance. This method is recommended to be used for platbands made of natural wood, capable of withstanding heavy loads without losing their original properties.
The length of the screws should not exceed 2 cm. You can hide their "hats" after carrying out installation work using a drill, with which small grooves are made in the casing. A self-tapping screw “sinks” in the recesses, and the installation site is masked with a special pencil, suitable in color or silicone sealant, which can be purchased at a hardware store.
