How to brush a tree easily

Brushing wood allows you to artificially age a tree with your own hands. This decoration fits perfectly into the classic, vintage or rustic style. Also, the brushing process makes the tree stronger and not susceptible to fungi and putrefactive microorganisms in comparison with the usual aging of wood.

Instruments

For brushing you will need metal brushes that remove soft fibers from the surface. The tool is used for initial processing. For more even brushing, use wide brushes with a roller-like shape.

With the help of a manual chisel, deep grooves of different curvature and orientation are made. With proper handling, you can create very realistic deep cracks.

Large sandpaper is also used, which helps give the surface a natural roughness. Wood is pressed along the fibers with strong pressure. To create a more interesting texture, you can use sandpaper of different calibers.

After processing the wood with a metal brush, the craftsmen recommend firing the item with a kerosene burner. With the help of it, small fibers are removed, the wood is dried, the structure of the tree stands out.

Technology

Before structuring, the wood must be carefully prepared. First of all, the material should be smooth, without defects and damages, and humidity should be in the range of 10-12%. If you select wood with other parameters, the results of its processing will be deplorable: the fibers will burst.

First, the brushing surface is moistened to prevent the formation of large amounts of dust and debris. Next, roughing occurs using a metal brush, the rigidity of which is selected based on the strength of the wood. Tool movements occur in the direction of the fibers.

After that, primary grinding of the part is carried out, for which a polymer brush with an abrasive is used. This stage allows you to remove roughness and dangling fibers. Removing excess allows you to evaluate the work at the first stage with a metal brush. If the master considers it necessary to deepen the grooves, then the work of the previous stage is repeated.

Then, with the help of a chisel, wood is decorated by applying chaotic cracks over the entire surface, imitating the natural aging of the material.

At the last stage, with the help of a sisal brush, the final polishing of the wood is carried out. For manual work, fine abrasive sandpaper is used. Work allows you to make a smooth surface.

In the final, the wood is dried, cleaned well and prepared for further painting.
