How to make a huge LED

At home, it is possible to make an LED that will shine several times brighter than the small counterparts sold in stores. To make it, you will need: a plastic bottle, a textolite board, foil, thick wire, a piece of LED strip, a 5-10 ohm resistor, epoxy resin with a hardener.

Manufacture

In order to recreate a large LED, you need to understand the device of a small one. Two conclusions stick out from the body and there are two sites: the one that relates more to the cathode, and the smaller one to the anode.

The cathode contains a pad with a reflector and a semiconductor crystal, above which the LED lens is located.

The first step is to recreate a semiconductor crystal with a reflector. To do this, by heating with a soldering iron or a hairdryer, chip elements are disconnected from the LED strip. A textolite board is cut out, eight-piece chip elements are soldered to it on the luda. The contacts and the quenching resistor are connected to the board.

The board is checked for readiness by applying power, if the light appears, then everything works. Next, a cathode and anode are created from the PCB, to which the contacts are soldered. A light module is glued onto a large part of the board, and its contacts are connected to the output contacts.

To create a lens you will need an epoxy resin that is poured into the mold. For it, you need to cut the plastic bottle in half, and stick the top into the bottom. After the epoxy is diluted strictly according to the instructions, the light board with the contacts is attached to the bottle using clamps. The design is poured.

Before the filling procedure, it is necessary to plug the neck of the bottle with foil so as not to waste excess epoxy. After hardening, the bottle is cut off, the foil is removed, and the rest of the surface is ground. To begin with, it is sanded with a mechanical tool, and then with fine sandpaper dipped in water. The method helps to remove all scratches.

After the LED, it is necessary to polish, for this, a car or toothpaste polish and a dry rag are taken. Everything is rubbed to transparency. A ready-made light source is supplied with power to test it for proper operation.
