Tinted windows are protection against ultraviolet rays, blinding sun and heat. You can use blinds and blackout curtains, but you will have to sacrifice the view from the windows and the visual space. Therefore, an ideal option would be a tint film. This is a convenient solution for the owners - radiation protection, beauty and comfort.
Tools and Tips
To tint a balcony or loggia you will need:
- Stationery knife;
- Wide rubber or plastic spatula;
- Not a hard towel that does not leave fiber on the glass;
- Atomizer;
- Degreasing agent.
All tools must be prepared before starting work, as some manipulations are carried out very quickly. It is also important to monitor the conditions in which work is performed.
- Air temperature should be in the range of +10ABOUT From to +35ABOUT WITH;
- Humidity - from 25% to 70%;
- For better adhesion to the foam, the glass must be constantly sprayed with water from a spray bottle;
- Before starting work, the glass must be degreased and cleaned;
- It is best to glue the film on the inside of the windows: it will last much longer.
Window tinting algorithm
Toning a balcony or loggia has two scenarios: first - the film is applied to unframed glass; the second - the glass is in the frame. The difference in work - in one of the cases with tinting, you will have to tinker with, since a correctly selected scale will affect the quality.
Glass tinting without a frame
The algorithm is as follows:
- Clear glass of dust, particles and grease;
- Measure the glass and cut a piece of film according to the measurements. Leave a small allowance at the edges;
- To process glass with water;
- Remove the protective layer from the film, apply one edge to the top of the glass and smooth it diagonally;
- Glue the film gradually, constantly expelling air bubbles with a spatula;
- Cut off the remains at the edges with a clerical knife;
- Insert the glass into the frame.
You can also apply the film by immersing the glass in water. Actions are repeated exactly as instructed. But before you insert the glass into the frame you need to dry it. This method will completely eliminate the possibility of dust or dirt getting under the film.
Glass tinting in a frame
There is not much difference in actions between this option and the previous one. The only thing here is to calculate the film size with high accuracy, otherwise there is a risk that gaps will remain on the glass.
So, the order of work:
- Clean the surface;
- Measure the visible part of the glass. Cut the film according to these measurements;
- Moisten the glass and the adhesive side of the film with spray water;
- Attach the edge of the film to the top of the glass, and evenly roll out;
- Gently smoothing, drive the air out from under the film with a spatula;
- After sticking, wipe with a soft towel.
If you follow these rules, then properly tinted windows will make life more pleasant and safer.
