How to use a decorative stone in the corridor

Decorating any room with a wild stone can transform it beyond recognition, giving originality and sophistication. The stone is able to make any interior design stylish. It is perfectly used as the main material or as a finishing touch in an already decorated room.

/

Before starting work, it is necessary to choose the most suitable type of material. If we talk about purchased options, as a rule, their basis consists of gypsum or cement. Both materials have their positive and negative qualities.

The cement base is characterized by a high level of strength, long-term service, resistance to high moisture, as well as a wide selection of different textures and colors. Such material is perfectly used in decorating the corridor, as it does not undergo physical wear and tear - it does not scratch or crack.

The gypsum base will look no less chic. A stone from this material not only perfectly decorates the walls, but also protects them. Plaster products are often sold in unpainted condition in order to be able to make an independent painting corresponding to the color shades of the room. Gypsum stone is distinguished by its ease of processing, low weight and low cost.

It is very important to correctly calculate the required volume of material. If the goal is to fully finish the walls of the entire corridor, then from their total area you need to subtract the space of the openings and add 10%. If the goal is to decorate individual elements, then in this case the opposite happens - spare 10% is added to the surface area.

/

To work with the stone you will need a small standard set of tools:

  1. Bulgarian;
  2. Putty knife;
  3. Level;
  4. File;
  5. Primer;
  6. Ruler and pencil;

Plates can be fixed with liquid nails or various adhesives.

/

It is important to carry out preparatory work on the walls before starting to lay the material. First of all, you need to carefully remove the old coating, since the residues will not allow you to firmly fix the stone. Then the walls are leveled to achieve the most even surface after laying. The final stage involves the primer and masonry of the stone.

Wild stone gives a warm atmosphere and comfort to any room. This is especially important for the corridor, since entering the room, it is the first room in which the person finds himself. You should not abuse such material, as it can significantly reduce the visual space of a small room. In apartments, it is best to use fragmented finishes.
