Rutarium is a composition created from various stumps, snags and roots that have unusual, bizarre shapes. He, along with other garden elements, is able to add variety to the personal landscape and even turn it into a fabulous country.
Rutarium should be well thought out and organically fit into the style of the site. It is more suitable for landscape gardens with their twisty and intricate outlines.
Before creating a composition, you should decide on its subject. The most popular rutarius is in the Russian Forest style. In it there will be, by the way, stumps, unusual driftwood, bast bast bast shoes and bast baskets, in which you can plant a bush of wild strawberry. The theme of magic is also good, where various fairy-tale characters are appropriate: gobbies, mermaids, aquatic, brownie, gnomes.
Material for rutarium must be sought in the forest. Snags of the original form, as well as with a rare bark, will do. In the water you can find parts of stained oak of a noble dark color and not subject to atmospheric influences.
When installing rutaria, it is worth paying attention not only to its beauty, but also to durability. Wooden elements should be coated with special protective agents. Processing them with varnish is not recommended, because in this case, they will not grow mosses and lichens, which are so necessary for composition.
The main advantage of rutaria is that its construction does not require a foundation or any other serious basis. All elements are placed on the ground, sprinkled with needles, small chips or sawdust. They are placed in such a way that the composition does not look even and boring, but voluminous and intriguing. To do this, driftwood is laid on top of each other, forming amusing plexuses, so that upon examination the gaze can wander through the nooks and find something hidden and special.
If there is a pond on the site, then a decorative bridge through it can be folded from small logs and branches. If there is no reservoir, then from the same materials you can make an artificial well and complete the composition by placing a heron or a stork figure next to it.
But you should not use only snags and roots - so the garden will become gloomy. Wooden installations must be supplemented with various plants, but so that they do not concentrate all attention on themselves. The best option would be flower beds from ageratum, mini roses, balsam, begonia, petunias, marigolds, violets, ferns, miniature conifers, i.e. from ornamental plants all season.
You can plant flowers in stumps. To do this, they are fixed by digging 5-10 cm, they are cleaned, filled with fertile soil and plants are planted. It is best to use ampelous varieties of petunia, nasturtium, lobelia, as well as brunner, juvenile, echeveria, Carpathian bell, verbena, geranium, stonecrop, alissum.
If there are high resistant driftwood, then they are used as a support for various climbing plants: morning glory, ivy, hops, honeysuckle honeysuckle, blackberry shrub, lemongrass, kirkazona.
Also, interesting installations are made of interwoven snags: the gaps between them are covered with soil and planted with ferns, hosta, anemone, kupen, lilies of the valley, saxifrage, stachis.
