What is important to remember when installing heavy chandeliers

Lighting equipment is on the market in a very wide variety. And if for the office you choose something not very bulky in techno style, then in the house you will want to install an ordinary chandelier. Its installation is not complicated and any owner who knows how to use a screwdriver and a drill will cope with it, but if the chandelier is too heavy, then a professional may also have difficulties.

According to the difficulty of installation, two types can be distinguished: mounting a heavy chandelier on a concrete ceiling and mounting a chandelier on suspended and suspended ceilings.

Installing a massive chandelier on a concrete ceiling

 There are two ways to install a chandelier, despite its weight, which will hold it securely:

• Installation of a chandelier on a hook;
• Mounting with mounting plate.

The latter option is the most reliable, but requires many operations, moreover, if the chandelier is installed on the ceiling from hollow reinforced concrete slabs, it is better to use a hook.

It often happens that there is already a fixture on the ceiling on which an old chandelier hung, and if you place a new chandelier in the same place, it is better to check the reliability of the hook first. To do this, it is necessary to hang a load on it, the mass of which will exceed the weight of the chandelier, at least twice. For example, you can use eggplant with water. If you have any doubts about the reliability of this mount, you will need to replace it.

If you have a monolithic reinforced concrete slab on the ceiling, then to install a massive chandelier, you need to use anchor fasteners. In this case, you can also use the mounting plate, the best is cross-shaped or rectangular.

Mounting a heavy chandelier on a suspended or suspended ceiling

If you have a suspended plasterboard construction on the ceiling or a stretch made of PVC materials, then installing a massive chandelier will not work at all. There are many options on the Internet, but they are all risky, so in this case, the only option will be to use a ceiling overhead as a base.

Before installing the ceiling, you will need to install the chandelier on a mounting plate with a hook, and then remove it, while leaving the embedded elements.

Then you can install the ceiling, and then where the hook is to drill a hole. And in the case of a stretch ceiling, put a plastic ring.

Also, do not forget that during the installation of the chandelier you will need to use protective equipment and turn off the electrical supply in the room or throughout the house.
