Do-it-yourself workshop on creating a florarium

Florarium is a home mini-greenhouse that you can make yourself. For this, you can use a wide variety of vessels. A suitable container can often be found on the balcony or mezzanine. A conventional aquarium can be taken if the desired vessel could not be selected. This can be either unnecessary or a new product.

The location of the composition must be selected in advance. It should be in sight so that guests can express their admiration. The florarium should be combined with the interior of the room. Dimensions, shades of colors - all this should be planned before the start of work, especially if a large greenhouse is planned.

Materials for creating a florarium are limited only by the imagination of a home master. But at the same time, there are certain mandatory elements of the greenhouse. In particular, the bottom will need to lay drainage from bulk products. To create it, chipped brick, colored decorative or ordinary river sand and the like are suitable. Soil for the florarium is selected according to the plants that will be planted with it. The moisture inside is held by special cultures, for example, sphagnum moss. This also needs to be envisaged. Glass beads, pebbles and other bulk materials are used to decorate the surface.

The work will also require certain tools: for digging and wetting the soil, watering plants. It is also worth preparing tweezers and gloves with different sizes to protect your hands.

The creation of a florarium should begin with the preparation of the vessel. Rinse and dry it well. At the bottom after placing a layer of drainage, which must be moistened with water. Soil is poured into the drainage, into which fertilizers and other additives suitable for planted plants can be added. Debris, earth and damaged parts must be removed from plants.

Cooked flowers with tweezers are placed according to the original plan. For moss or its substitutes should also be allocated their place. For digging soil, you can use a teaspoon. After planting, plants should be lightly sprinkled with soil and moistened with a spray bottle. For further watering, you can use syringes or a small watering can.

A decorative layer is placed on the surface. It can occupy only part of the area or cover the entire florarium as a whole. With the help of glass beads or decorative pebbles, other decorations are usually fixed, if used. For further watering, you need to prepare a syringe. Watering plants in a closed vessel often should not be, as the humidity there is well preserved.
