Why it is undesirable to fill piles with grillage

When installing a pile foundation with a reinforcing monolithic grillage, certain technical requirements should be observed. We will figure out what the nuances of the fill, as well as what the consequences may be if mistakes are made.

Piles

Since the question is about a monolithic device, then we will talk about bored piles. That is, wells are drilled in the ground, formwork material is installed in them, which usually performs the same function of waterproofing. Then, reinforcement is laid inside the formwork, the height of which must exceed the depth of the well by at least 0.4 m. This is a very important point. Subsequently, this reinforcement is bonded or welded to the grill reinforcing belt.

After all the details are immersed in the well, a solution is poured into it. Filling one well is done at a time, that is, in one go. You can’t fill in half of the volume, and fill in the rest for tomorrow. Then the concrete should be rammed with vibration or simply by piercing. It is necessary to let out all the air from the solution, otherwise the piles will be defective, which will affect the strength. Piles are flooded and you can proceed to further events.

Grillage

In order to connect the piles with a monolithic grillage, the formwork is assembled. Moreover, the formwork should not lie on the ground, that is, the grillage should be in a slightly suspended state. This is done so that the soil does not cause damage to the structure. So, the sequence of actions:

• We collected the formwork around the perimeter,
• We installed support supports for the lower shields,
• Paved inserts for laying the reinforcement belt,
• Tied the fittings to the pins left in the piles,
• Pour the solution
• Sheathed with polyethylene for normal setting.

In this case, it is important to know:

• If the interval between pouring the piles and the grillage is less than 12 hours, then before pouring the grillage, you should clean the top layer of concrete on the piles, remove the “milk”;
• If more than 12 hours have passed, then there is nowhere to hurry, you should let the solution in the piles to seize, that is, wait 2-3 days.

Why is it important? For a period of 12 hours, a thin crust forms on the upper exit of the piles. That is, if less time has passed, then the solutions will begin to live together, and if more, then the strength of the piles will be violated. It should be remembered that the entire volume of grillages is also poured at a time.
