A stuck drill in a hammer drill is not uncommon. This comes from the use of low quality nozzles. Jamming occurs due to high loads on the tail of the drill during the chiselling mode. She simply wrinkles, clinging to the insides of the locking mechanism of the cartridge, gets stuck.
Having fallen into such a difficult situation, some try to pull out, holding the drill in a vice, swing the perforator around. It happens that the puncher itself is clamped in a vice, trying to swing the nozzle. These methods will not lead to a good result. There is a high probability of damage to an expensive tool.
We take out the stuck nozzle
When jamming a drill in the socket of the locking mechanism, it is necessary to partially disassemble the cartridge. Using a flat screwdriver, gently pry the edges of the boot, remove it. Underneath is a nest with a well, a snap ring is located at the edges. We press on the edges of the chuck to release the drill, while prying the stopper with a screwdriver, remove it.
After such a disassembly, the free movement of the mechanism increases, the damaged drill is released and quietly pulled out. We assemble the tool in the reverse order.
If the drill bit breaks
When using low-quality nozzles, sometimes they break, the tail part of the drill remains in the socket. Usually it is not pulled out, remaining inside the well of the nest. In this case, the welding machine, thin electrodes, plastic thin tube, selected according to the diameter of the chuck well, will help to remove the chip. We insert the tube into the socket, we rest against the chip of the drill.
We connect the welding machine, connect the mass to the tool, press the chuck lock in the nozzle release position, carefully insert the electrode into the plastic tube. Quickly touch the debris electrode. The task is to weld the electrode to the shank, for its subsequent removal from the fixing mechanism.
With the shank crumpled, the chip is sometimes not pulled out due to the welding of the electrode, in this case we will use the partial disassembly of the cartridge described above.
Use obviously high-quality drills, try to avoid the stage of jamming of drills. If purchased, a drill of unknown quality, do not lean on it, make three holes in the wall, usually this is enough to find out if the shank is wrinkled, or a high-quality purchase. Try to remove it, and immediately it becomes clear what quality the acquisition is.
