The TV does not turn on the first time: possible causes of the defect

The TV does not turn on the first time much more often than one would expect. There may be several reasons for this, and some of them can be easily eliminated on your own. This will require only a couple of minutes of time and a bit of attention to detail.

"Remote" problems

  • Other reasons

From the moment the remote controls were invented, the rest in front of the TV ceased to be clouded by regular running around in order to adjust the volume or switch channels. Constantly improving, these devices have come to a modern version:

  • The remote control includes an infrared transmitter;
  • the TV has a similar receiver.

And if at least one of these elements cannot function normally, you will have to forget about the opportunity to completely relax when watching multimedia. This is especially true for broadcasting - annoying advertising is also much louder than movies usually. So when a TV failure is detected to turn on from the remote control, the first thing you need to check is the ability to start by pressing the buttons on the TV panel. If the electromechanics is working properly, the problem is sought in the transmitter / receiver. The first is more complicated - here you will need the services of a telemaster.

The infrared receiver requires prior disassembly for further testing. Given its location and fragility of contacts, it is better to entrust this task to professionals.

But the remote control may start to junk because:

  • falls - the commissures or the emitter (“bulb” on the front end) have moved away inside the case, limiting the angle of the signal beam;
  • oxidation of contacts;
  • dead batteries.

A visual inspection will eliminate or confirm most of these problems. To guarantee the operation of the remote control, you can test it using a mobile phone. It is enough to turn on the camera, point the emitter at it and press all buttons one by one. Each operation is indicated by the glow of the diode.

This test is also able to detect a partial loss of performance of the remote control:

  • “Sticking” buttons - the diode glows even after it is released;
  • damage - does not light up when pressed.

When confirming a malfunction of the remote control, it is simply replaced with a new one. Fortunately, now this is not a question - there are even "universal" models that allow you to control multiple devices.

Power Supply

You can talk about this problem when the TV turns on some time after receiving a command. In this case, it does not matter whether it was supplied from the remote control or from the built-in buttons. Typically, a voltage drop is preceded by a malfunction, causing the capacitors to burn. Since these elements are partially restored when heated, the TV still turns on, although not immediately. You can verify the correctness of the “diagnosis” by simply observing the operation of the device - squeaking, cracking and noise on the screen indicate the need to immediately contact the telemaster.

TV power supply

Replacing the power supply belongs to the category of low-cost repairs. And the operation of the TV with a faulty unit can lead to breakdowns, resulting in more serious damage.

Other reasons

Much less often than previous problems, an internal lock is triggered. It comes to light simply: if the diode burning in standby mode goes out after trying to turn on the TV, then one of the microcircuits is damaged and the automation opens the circuit. It is the manufacturers who so reduce the risk of explosion and fire of equipment.

Other causes include software failures or a motherboard malfunction. Any of them requires separate diagnostics and is eliminated exclusively in service centers.
