What to do if you spilled water on the laptop: first steps, preparation for elimination of consequences, sequence of disassembling the laptop, cleaning

A modern person spends most of his time at the computer - working or spending leisure time. There are situations when users, for lack of free time, eat food and drinks while sitting at a laptop. This can lead to a situation when the device is filled with any liquid. What to do in this case?

First steps if spilled water on a laptop

If you spilled liquid on a laptop, then you must immediately perform the following steps:

• disconnect the device from the network and remove the battery or use the emergency shutdown: hold down the power button for a few seconds;
• remove devices that were currently connected to the computer from all ports and connectors;
• remove all liquid from the surface of the laptop with a napkin, and then turn it with the keyboard down and let the remaining water drain;

Important! Do not connect the computer device to the network for several hours after liquid has been spilled, as this may lead to its complete breakdown.

In most cases, the laptop is not filled with water - it gets coffee, tea or juice. These substances are dangerous not only at the time of contact, but also after drying. Penetrating inside the case, these drinks can short circuit microcircuits or help accelerate the process of corrosion of laptop parts.

In order to eliminate the consequences of spilling liquids on an electronic device, it is necessary to prepare:

• a gadget with access to the Internet, with which we can find out the answers to our questions;
• desk;
• napkins;
• ethanol;
• Toothpicks
• a soft-bristled toothbrush;
• distilled water for cleaning electronic components;
• a Phillips screwdriver and a hard plastic spatula in order to disassemble the laptop;
• 2 containers (large and small) - one capacity is needed for water, and the second in order to put all the screws in it.

Notebook disassembly sequence

First of all, we will use the Internet in order to find out how to correctly disassemble a specific model of electronic device. Then we unscrew all the available fasteners, and carefully slide the sled for the additional hard drive and take them out to the side.

Attention! If something does not work out during the disassembly, then you should not make an effort, as this can harm the integrity of the appearance of the computer.

We remove the cover and remove the hard drive, the battery of the motherboard, the RAM strip (by slightly bending the spring-loaded latches on the edges) and the Wi-Fi module. Then we unscrew the keyboard and all the screws on the case.

Important! The keyboard can be unscrewed in several ways: unscrew the three screws and move it to the side, push the latches, which are located in a circle and bend the latch.

Then, between the halves of the body, insert a spatula into the slot and begin to push them apart. When everything is done, insert a toothpick into the disconnected area so that they do not close. We disconnect all the cables and unscrew the screws, pull out the motherboard and all the parts adjacent to it. Next, remove the connector of the cable going to the monitor, unscrew the hinges of the cover and disconnect the frame around the display.

Laptop cleaning

After the laptop is disassembled, we proceed to cleaning the device. We carefully examine every detail, eliminate all sticky drops or stains with a cloth soaked in ethyl alcohol. If the parts have a relief surface, then it is better to use a toothbrush soaked in alcohol.

Attention! To see traces of liquid, you can highlight the flashlight on the surface of the parts at an acute angle.

If you find that there is too much liquid, then first you need to rinse all the parts in distilled water, and then wipe with alcohol.

Important! Rubbing the parts with a toothbrush, this should be done with light movements, without the use of physical force.

The keyboard should be wet completely, but this is unlikely to help clean it of all the dirt.

After all the parts have been wiped and cleaned, they must be dried with a hairdryer.

Laptop assembly

When the laptop is cleaned of contaminants, it is necessary to assemble it, having carried out all the dismantling procedures in the reverse order. First of all, you need to sort all the fasteners by size and type, then properly lay the cable and all the wires.

Do not rush to screw the case immediately, it is better to first try to turn on this device and check its performance. If something went wrong, then you need to disassemble the laptop again and reassemble everything.
