Homemade bicycle-based cultivator: what is needed, stages of work

The spring troubles of the summer resident in tillage before sowing will be less burdensome if you acquire the means of small mechanization, which include cultivator. The price of a store device seems to bite many for many, so folk craftsmen (honor and praise) offer ways to create such a technique from scrap materials. One option is to use some parts of an old bike for your homemade cultivator.

What is needed to work on making a cultivator with your own hands

In addition to the base, from which you need a wheel with a fork for it and a steering wheel, you need to prepare:

• circular saw blade;
• profile pipe 20 * 20 mm;
• reinforcement 8 mm;
• sheet steel;
• a 30 mm metal strip and a half-inch tube.

Of the tools, you will need a welding machine, angle grinder, bolts, a key.

How to make a bicycle cultivator: steps

You will need a wheel with a radius of about 21 cm. First of all, the stock is cut off at the fork going to it. Then a steel plate is welded onto it.

Further:

• to the resulting original steel platform, two profile pipes are fixed by means of a welding machine (their length is selected depending on how tall the user of the homemade device will be) - they will serve as the basis for securing the steering wheel;
• for the reliability of fixing the pipes under them, it is necessary to make spacers - for the construction of the latter, reinforcement is used;

• in the upper part of the pipes are reduced to each other, then the steering wheel is fixed (welded) onto them;

• now a working knife is being made, which should turn out to be V-shaped - for this, two plates are cut out of the circular disk;

• excess pieces are cut off from the plates;

• then the edges of the prepared strips are cut at an angle;

• then they are welded to form a V-shape;

• their joint from above is held together by a welded plate for reliability;

• the knife is sharpened one-sided on top;

• a frame in the form of the letter P is fixed to the knife - on top it is made from a profile pipe, corners are placed along its edges;
• the legs of the cutting element are made of a metal strip - this is necessary to fix them to the corner with bolts;

In the course of further operation, it will be possible to add holes to change the immersion of the bipod into the ground.

• the blade on the frame is positioned so that there is a slight downward slope of the nose - the total height of the bipod should be approximately 20 cm;

• The bipod is fixed to the fork keeping a distance of 30 cm from the wheel axle.

The bipod width is adjusted so that you can work between rows without affecting the stems. 24-25 cm is considered optimal. The distance between the potato bushes is wider than that of other crops, so cultivating with a cultivator will need to be done in two passes - first at one row, then shifting to the second.
