The kitchen is a kind of study for an experienced hostess. It should not only be clean and fresh here - it is important to think over every little detail in the interior from the point of view of practicality. Especially when it comes to small items. For example, about cutlery. When the place of their storage is thought out competently, then the life of all household members becomes easier, and putting things in order will take less time.

Many of us approach the storage of cutlery very simply: we put clean items according to their species in different compartments of one plastic tray. Therefore, often an aluminum spoon "lives" next to cupronickel, and a silver fork becomes a neighbor of a rootless stainless steel.
Such storage is wrong, since it can lead to the fact that the cutlery will darken, lose brightness. Therefore, it is important to consider the material from which they are made.
So, aluminum spoons, forks and knives do not require special storage conditions. After each use, it is enough to wash them, wipe them dry and put them in a plastic tray.
Important! Aluminum products should not be left in food for a long time. In small quantities, this metal does not harm human health. However, aluminum is covered with an oxide film that dissolves upon prolonged contact with food, as a result of which the dish can acquire a characteristic metallic taste.
Stainless steel appliances also do not require compliance with special storage conditions. They can be folded neatly into the compartments of the tray.

More "capricious" is rightfully considered cupronickel tableware. Cutlery made of this noble alloy is especially appreciated by thrifty housewives, but they can quickly lose their presentable appearance if the operating and storage conditions are not followed.
To prevent this from happening, it is important to observe the following rules:
- Store cupronickel products separately from the rest of the dishes.
- It is recommended to wipe each cutlery dry, wrap it in a paper napkin, and then in cling film or foil. This is necessary to protect cupronickel from the negative effects of oxygen and moisture. Spoons, forks and knives packed in this way will not tarnish even if stored for a long time.
- Crockery made of this alloy must not be put into the drawer without drying it out. From such negligence, stains will appear on the devices, they will lose their shine.
Silver plate is considered a luxury item, and therefore it should be kept in a royal manner. So, after each use, the devices should be washed by hand, wiped dry and packed in paper (each item separately).
Then they need to be carefully folded into a specially designed box. Do not drag the devices wrapped in paper with twine, rubber bands. From this, ugly marks may appear on them.
By the way! It is also not recommended to lay out silver items on the glass shelves of the sideboard. Silverware can turn black if exposed to direct sunlight.

Ideas for convenient storage
We use cutlery every day. They should always be at hand, but not create a mess in the kitchen. This can be done using different storage systems:
- Drawers. They are installed in a regular cabinet. The devices are folded into the compartments of the tray designed for this purpose.
- Separate containers. They are placed on the table. It can be either one large container with compartments, or several small ones. The good news is that the devices can be stored with the handles up, as expected.
- Using a work apron. Ideal for small kitchens where every inch counts. The storage containers are hung on the rail with hooks.
Important! When using plastic containers and trays, care must be taken to ensure that they are intact. Containers with scratches and cracks must be replaced with new ones in time.
You can approach the issue in a more creative way. For example, make containers yourself. So, storage systems from plastic cans wrapped in cloth look original. Decorate the kitchen with straw, wooden or metal containers.
It is not difficult to organize competent storage of cutlery. It is only important to take into account the features of the material, the dimensions of the kitchen and your own preferences. And if you add to this a little imagination with patience, then the result will surpass the wildest expectations.
