The French are still aesthetes and many of them like to spend evenings on the balcony, enjoying rest and communication with loved ones (or their loneliness). However, its appearance does not always suit the inhabitants of France, therefore they often turn to gardening specialists.
Unfortunately, most of the plants that can be found in the country are varieties that were bred in greenhouses or imported from Europe. Plants are not adapted to the local soil, and therefore there is a high probability that they will simply die without having time to acclimatize.
The Parisian gardener Isabelle Aumont created her own company, which in Russian sounds like "Balcony in the city". It is she who helps the French to plant greenery on their balconies, choosing the right type of plant and correctly planting it on the right side. And by the way, Parisians have their own preferences and favorite seedlings that they want to see at home.

Closer to nature
One client asked Isabelle to plant trees on his balcony so that he could relax there and get closer to nature with the help of plants. The gardener's decision turned out to be quite interesting - she chose wild herbs that do not require special care.
In the south and west, feather grass, euphorbia, honeysuckle, lupine, mint, irises, poppy, mallow, marigolds, sage, immortelle and (unexpectedly!) Decorative garlic appeared. But in partial shade, dogwood, hazel, mountain ash, elderberry and scumpia settled.
The project turned out to be very interesting, well-designed, and the customer, of course, was satisfied.
Balcony blooming most of the year
Another wonderful project, which, according to Isabelle's idea, was supposed to be a special outlet for her mistress. The fact is that the owner of the apartment, where it was required to plant the balcony, faced difficulties in life, so she needed to be distracted. And what, if not nature, helps to relax as much as possible and forget about everything in the world ?!
The idea was simple: the pots were arranged so that you could enjoy long flowering throughout the warm season. Thus, plants were selected that perfectly tolerated partial shade and felt great in the sun. They exhibited roses, lavender, rosemary, clematis, cypress, bindweed, jasmine, bells, verbena, wisteria, and for shade - hydrangea, geranium, sedge and some others.
Special Mood-Zen
The owner wanted to do something non-standard - a composition of graphic plantings, because Isabelle chose plants that grow in the undergrowth: small compact fir, heather, fern and horsetail.
In fact, it turned out that the balcony was beautifully landscaped, and a whole coniferous forest was created on it.
Considering that the space is located in partial shade, it was necessary to choose the right seedlings so that all efforts were justified. Thus, andromeda, small decorative pines, bamboo, fern, hellebores, horsetails and even maple settled here.
Exotic corner
This balcony was created with a special mood. The fact is that the client Isabelle complained about a boring boring look, because he wants something unusual and, of course, special. This is how the idea of an exotic balcony was born.
The author of the project managed to create a whole jungle, which (albeit for a short time) helped to forget about the noisy city and mentally move to a green cozy garden.
Cordilins, formiums, small domestic palms Trachikarpus Forchuna, aeonium settled on the sunny side, and in the shade - bamboo, willow, eucalyptus, herbaceous calamus.
By the sea
The plants that were planted on this balcony perfectly tolerate drought and wind, but at the same time require long daylight hours. Therefore, in this project the main characters are feather grass, tamarisk, strawberry tree, verbena, wormwood, armeria, sunflower and other beautiful seedlings.
It turned out very attractive and fresh.
Small vegetable garden
The landlady and mother of four dreamed of completely changing the format of the balcony. She wanted not only to make this place comfortable and cozy, but also functional, so Isabelle came up with an option mini-vegetable gardens where children could observe how plants develop and learn such fascinating and curious little things life.
The author of the project did not just plant crops in pots - she combined whole compositions, where small pretty flowers grew next to spicy herbs. And instead of pots, she chose attractive geotextile baskets. It turned out to be just a mega-cool eco-balcony.
In the sun were planted tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, strawberries, basil, lavender, thyme, rosemary, onions, sage, chamomile, fennel, and in the shade - lettuce, spinach, sorrel, coriander, peas, radishes, arugula, marigolds, primroses, violets, wild garlic.
Such simple and cool ideas can be found on the balconies of France. As you can see, residents prefer not only visual beauty, but also practicality, when plants bring not only aesthetic pleasure, but also benefit.
