Tea lovers know how important it is which mug you drink from! It would seem that it is just capacity, but how much value you sometimes attach when choosing this product. A bit surprising, but after all, mugs of different sizes, materials of manufacture and shapes reveal the taste of the drink, its aroma and richness in completely different ways.

At first glance, it seems that all the models are not very different from each other, except in design and volume, but there are, let's say, a lot of types of mugs, and therefore it is important to know that they differ not only in colorful patterns and a capacity of milliliters - there are also unusual options, and even slightly strange.

Types of mugs

First of all, it is worth noting that a mug is a hollow product that resembles a truncated cone or cylinder in shape. Its usual capacity is 250-500 ml. And in the first place, they are classified precisely by the material of manufacture, and then by all other parameters.

Manufacturing material

The mug can be:

• Glass. Quite a popular option today. They look very stylish, a huge variety of choices with bright prints, drawings or simply transparent (which is also good!), But the tea in it will quickly cool down. However, this is only a plus if the product is used, for example, at work.
• Ceramics. The main advantage is the environmental friendliness of the material and the ability to keep the given warmth of the drink for a long time. Of the minuses - fragility and "acute" response to temperature fluctuations.
• Porcelain. A favorite among materials for making dishes for various purposes, and mugs are no exception! They look especially impressive in the service, and the tea ceremony takes place in a different solemn atmosphere. What is the secret of this effect is completely unclear, but the main thing is that porcelain mugs have not lost their popularity for many decades.
• Wood. More creative than casual. However, if you are a fan of eco-life, then definitely your option. Some wood species are even capable of positively affecting the digestive tract, and therefore, drinking a cup of tea from a wooden mug, you can not only enjoy the drink, but also improve your health.
• Aluminum. The advantage of such a product is its lightness. But it is also quite strong, although it can deform slightly from strong blows. Its price is very affordable, you can even use it on fire. All this together makes aluminum mugs an excellent attribute in hiking and camping trips.
• Plastic. Essentially dangerous stuff. The plastic mug will have to be thrown away after a year of use. In addition, when buying, you need to pay attention to the label: "PETE" means the presence of polyethylene terephthalate, which is excellent for food purposes.

Volume

As mentioned above, the optimal capacity is 250-500 ml. For home use, containers with a volume of 200-250 ml are suitable. In the office, the ideal option would be 230-270 ml, and in the coffee shop, it is desirable to have models that are combined with the concept of a particular institution.

But there are also amateurs of large mugs. Such products can hold not only 500 ml, but also 600 and 700 ml. It all depends on the person, his tastes and preferences.

Form

The mug, which looks like a glass, has a slightly elongated body, therefore, with a significant height of liquid, it does not hold much. The pialo-shaped one is characterized by a spherical shape, which is slightly narrowed downward. The larger the volume, the correspondingly wider the product.

Appointment

In the classical concept, a mug is a cylindrical vessel supplemented with a comfortable handle. But there are other containers that have the same name, but bear little resemblance to the option we are used to.

Thermo mug

Able to effectively maintain temperature conditions. This is its main difference from the usual mug. If we consider this option from the point of view of similarity with a simple thermos, then the thermo mug is much smaller, which allows you to hold it with one hand. It is convenient to take such models for a walk, to school or a gym.

Chameleon

They are very popular not only among adolescents, but also adults, regardless of gender and age. The main feature of such an invention is that it changes its color under the influence of temperature. For example, when heated, a one-color mug may transform, and some kind of drawing, photo or inscription will appear.

With blender

It has a built-in micromotor-agitator powered by accumulators. This allows the contents to mix thoroughly. For example, coffee with cream or sports protein shakes.

Sippy

Mostly intended for children when they are just learning to drink on their own. It may resemble a bottle in appearance. The models are bright, colorful, often with cartoon characters.

But recently, manufacturers have begun to produce similar models for adults. Their peculiarity is that no matter what you do with the mug, the contents will not spill. This is convenient when a person is driving, walking or jogging. Any liquid can be poured into it: compotes and jelly, juices, decoctions, tea, coffee, milk.

A unique invention that an ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician and mystic invented for slaves. The idea was that all the slaves drank the same, since there was little water on Samos. The second name is the Righteous Chalice. It is a special container that can only be filled up to a certain level. If a person tries to add more water, then it is poured out completely.

Of course, no one will use such a mug for drinking hot tea with lemon, but a similar model is sold in Greece as a souvenir.

Beer

Usually made of glass, it has a characteristic standard design - any fan of a malt drink will recognize it from afar. The capacity is usually 0.33 l, 0.4 l, 0.5 l, 0.6 and even 1 liter.
