The stove, like any gas-using devices, is very dangerous. Violation of the rules and norms of operation often leads to tragic consequences, therefore it is better to entrust all kinds of repairs to qualified specialists.

Owners must monitor the condition of their gas equipment on their own. Their duties also include the timely call of the master. This area of legislation is regulated by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation № 410 "On measures to ensure safety in the use and maintenance of in-house and in-house gas equipment" dated May 14, 2013.

Gas stove with four burners

Gas on the stove can go out even a few hours after ignition, which poses a great danger to the owner of the equipment and other inhabitants of the house.

Administrative liability is envisaged for failure to comply with the terms and standards for the repair of gas appliances. According to Article 9.23Administrative Code the budget will have to transfer 1-2 thousand. rubles.

Indeed, there are such malfunctions that only highly qualified specialists can eliminate. We will try to find out the possible reasons for the breakdown of the stove, which you can repair yourself.

Problem # 1 - Gas Stove Flame Goes Out

In modern models of gas stoves, the extinction of the flame is one of the most common problems. There can be several reasons for malfunctions.

Temperature sensor breakage

The first step is to check the thermocouple. The thermoelectric converter may need cleaning.

Gas control system

A defective thermocouple can cause gas burners to dim. In some models, the gas supply is turned off in case of an accidental draft or liquid flooding.

There is a simple way to determine that it is the temperature sensor that has failed:

  • press the knob;
  • the flame on the burner should light up;
  • when the button is pressed, the gas stove functions correctly;
  • after releasing - the flame is extinguished.

Before replacing a part, try sanding the transducer head, which is under the flame diffuser, with sandpaper, and check its correct position. The element should be close to the flame zone, but not in it.

If this does not help, you still have to install new thermocouple.

Household stove structure

A standard diagram of a gas stove device. There are 4 main systems: basic - burners, taps; control and management - sensors, gas control; electric - grill, lighting; carrier - directly the cabinet itself

Dirty nozzles and valve breakage

The stove will also not hold the flame if the nozzles are dirty. Turn off the gas and let the stove cool down.

Be sure to open windows or vents in the room, then:

  • remove the grilles and disconnect the dividers;
  • inside the burner you will find a small hole - this is the nozzle;
  • a thin wire or paper clip can be used to clean the device;
  • after completion of work, return the dividers and grates to their place.

The reason may be a malfunction of the solenoid valve. Normally, it should start up five seconds after the thermocouple heats up. Otherwise, you will need to replace it.

It so happens that the diagnostics carried out shows the serviceability of the temperature sensor and the electromagnet, and why the gas stove still turns off is unknown.

When the handle is released, an extinguished flame can be provoked by its insufficient sinking, which leads to a weak compression of the spring. As a result, a large gap is formed between the end of the electromagnet core and the valve armature.

To eliminate the malfunction, it is necessary to remove the plastic handle by pulling it towards you. After that, an additional steel washer should be installed on the stem. Its thickness should be 1 mm. The use of an additional element allows you to reduce the size of the gap when the handle is pressed all the way. The gas stove must be assembled in the reverse order.

Problem # 2 - the gas burner does not work

Breakdowns of gas stoves, which do not light up the burners, are associated with a malfunction of the electric ignition system or the gas supply.

Burner cleaning process

The burners are made up of several elements: the flame diffuser, the base and the burner cover. Their timely cleaning will help to avoid changes in the pressure, color and intensity of the gas stove flame.

Consider the main signs of breakdowns and solutions:

  1. If the burner on the gas stove comes on and goes out after releasing the handle, the malfunction may be caused by an incorrect location of the temperature sensor. As a rule, this happens when you replace the thermocouple yourself or unsuccessful cleaning. You can eliminate the violation by adjusting the part.
  2. The burner of the gas stove goes out due to the blockage of the fuel supply channel when the nozzle is clogged. You need to clean or replace the part.
  3. If all burners light up, but they do not burn well and go out poorly, the reason may be the use of the wrong jet. This problem is often encountered when using gas cylinders. So, the diameter of the nozzle for equipment operating on main gas is slightly larger than for plate connected to the cylinder. In this case, replacing the burner nozzle with others with a less wide orifice nozzle will help.
  4. If the burner of the stove ignites poorly or does not react at all to auto-ignition, and when using matches, problems do not arise, the reason may be a malfunction of the arrester. It is necessary to check the plug for integrity, absence of contamination and signs of oxidation. Routine cleaning will be sufficient if the power cord is stuck to the case. Otherwise, if the wiring or insulation of the plug is damaged, you will need to replace it complete with the power cord.
  5. A weak flame on all burners with a yellow tint indicates a breakdown of the auto-ignition unit responsible for creating a spark. If the gas panel goes out, a complete replacement of the automatic gas ignition device will be required.

If there is no spark when the burner is turned on, but the burner lights up from a match, the ignition button could be out of order. The problem is caused by oxidation of the contacts - if small particles of debris or moisture get in, the part becomes unusable as a result of mechanical damage. Depending on the type of violation, you will need to clean the parts or completely replace the button.

We considered other causes of breakdowns and spontaneous operation of auto-ignition in another article: Why the autoignition of a gas stove constantly clicks and spontaneously triggers: breakdowns and their repair.

Gas stove ignition button

Replacing the ignition button will help get rid of problems with poor ignition of the gas stove burners. Before installing a new part, make sure that the stove is dry and that the power cord is clean and does not stick to the cabinet.

A break in the wiring to the automatic gas ignition device is indicated by the absence of a spark at all burners when using electric ignition, while the stove or hob with a match is ignited as usually.

The problem often arises in private homes, where the insulation of the cables is damaged by pests - rats and mice. In this case, you will need to replace the wiring, it is best to use an armored cable. We recommend that you read the information optional wiring for home.

For what reasons does the oven go out?

When using gas ovens, problems with gas control are often encountered. To light the oven, it is enough to bring the flame to the opening of the cabinet through which the fuel comes in or use the auto-ignition, most modern models have this option.

A thermocouple is located next to the burner. If the flame goes out or does not ignite at all, this means that the gas supply is blocked. Valve or thermocouple replacement may be required. We discussed how to check their serviceability in the previous section.

Gas oven

Problems with the operation of the gas oven can arise due to the too tight fit of the doors, as a result of which there is a lack of oxygen

First of all, you need to make sure that there is no blockage in the orifice of the jet through which the gas is supplied. Particles of food often get into the part of the stove during cooking.

You will need a soft, thin wire for cleaning. Using a rotating motion, insert it into the hole of the nozzle. It is undesirable to use rigid steel wire, as a result, you can get a "roaring" burner. A thin needle that breaks easily is not suitable for this purpose either.

Oven elements

Gas stove oven design. The location of the wire rack, baking tray and other baking or grilling utensils can be adjusted

The flame in the oven can also go out due to low gas pressure. This can be determined by the insufficient height of the crown of the flame, the fire can go out after a while. Poor combustion and poor gas flow may be associated with hose to the stovethat is pinched or bent over. The hollow tube is located behind the slab.

The gas oven also goes out when the button is released due to the tight fit of the oven door. You can get rid of the problem just by increasing the access of oxygen to the oven.

Flame problems also occur for reasons other than breakdowns.

Why the oven often goes out in a gas stove:

  1. A gas control system is installed in modern stoves. The sensor stops gas flow if there is no temperature rise. The regulator does not work immediately, so try to hold the gas switch knob for about 15 seconds, to speed up the heating of the sensor and ignition of the oven, twist the knob to the maximum.
  2. Problems with lighting the oven can occur after washing the oven. Burner tilt can be identified by the uneven orange flame. If the part is installed incorrectly, the oven starts to smoke.
  3. The gas control system reacts to a decrease in flame intensity when the gas pressure in the pipeline drops., which shuts off the fuel supply. This situation is common when using bottled gas. Necessary fill the container or replace it with a new one.

A weak burner flame in the oven can also be associated with difficulty turning the knob. This can happen as a result of a jammed gas valve.

Gas valve check

When checking the gas valve, you should pay attention to the remnants of factory grease, sometimes this is the cause of the stove malfunction. If necessary, the part can be treated with grease: LG-GAZ-41, Hermeton, Klad-M, LS-II are suitable for old-style plates; in modern models it is better to use Molykote 1102 and Hermetil

It is necessary to disassemble it, clean it from clogging and lubricate it. If the valve is damaged, replace it with a new one.

Safety rules for repairing the stove

When inspecting and repairing the stove, it is necessary to follow simple safety rules - cut off the fuel supply, turn off the power supply, children and animals should not remain in the room. Upon completion of the work, make sure that the burners burn evenly and that the connection between the stove and the gas pipeline is tight.

In case of a serious breakdown, it is undesirable to carry out repairs on your own, without the presence of appropriate experience. In this case, it is better to call the master from the organization with which the service contract gas equipment.

For unauthorized interference with the gas supply system, the liability specified in article 9.23 of the Administrative Code. The fine will be from 10 to 30 thousand rubles.

If a fire or explosion occurs through the fault of the owner of the equipment, charges will be brought against him, in accordance with paragraph 6 of part 3 of article 158RF Criminal Code. The amount of penalties for illegal actions: from 100 to 500 thousand rubles. There is also a punishment for this offense in the form of imprisonment for up to six years or the performance of forced labor for up to 5 years.
