How to assemble a toilet and a cistern: types of cisterns and features of their device

It is quite possible to assemble the toilet on your own - there is no need to invite professionals. However, although the procedure is rather primitive, the installation actually turns out to be not so obvious and simple. If you decide to assemble everything yourself, carefully study all the subtleties. If they are not taken into account, then it is close to a serious flood, because even a small leak can lead to big problems.

Varieties of cisterns and features of their device

The work of any plumbing fixture is based on the well-coordinated interaction of internal elements. The modern industry offers consumers a wide range of models. Their internal structure may differ, but the principle of operation remains unchanged.

The design of all overflow tanks is conditionally divided into two categories:

• with one button;
• with two buttons.

The first option, devices with one button, has long since passed into the category of classics. The principle of operation is the instant discharge of a large amount of water under pressure. It is not at all difficult to assemble such a device. Reading the instructions and following its directions is all that is needed.

Devices with two buttons are relatively new. Only at the beginning of the century did they add to the assortment of stores and almost immediately took leading positions in sales. Their functionality allows economical use of water.

What is the trick of this design? The user is free to choose how much water he wants to flush. If one button is pressed, then the entire contents of the tank instantly goes into the drain, but the second button is used to partially discharge the water.

There are three options for draining:

• funnel-shaped drain - the flow of water goes in a circle, twisting in a spiral;
• cascade drain - water flows along one side of the bowl;
• shower drain - water is discharged around the entire perimeter, while spraying.

Two parts of the design can be distinguished:

1. The supply part is responsible for filling the tank with water. The float closes the water discharge.
2. Drain part - consists of a release lever, rocker arm, release valve and overflow tube.

In classic models, the knot itself is fixed to the side wall.

If the device is equipped with an internal node, then there are no special differences, but there are some nuances. Under the influence of the pressure of water, the piston raises the rocker arm with the fixed float. When the tank is filled with water, the float compresses the piston and the water flow stops. Everything inside is typical.

How to assemble a toilet cistern

Going to the store for a new toilet, we get our hands on a product "a la assemble it yourself." In other words, all the equipment is packaged in various bags. Naturally, there is a rather detailed instruction, where the whole set is painted and it is described in detail how and what to connect. It is advisable to read this piece of paper before assembling.

The delivery set, except for the drain mechanism itself, contains all the fasteners. To strengthen the fixation, it will not be superfluous to stock up on a sealant.

The basic equipment is intended for the drainage system:

1. Valve shutting off the water supply. Naturally prevents water from draining from the tank. Its fixation is made next to the side hole in the tank.
2. Drain mechanism - responsible for the operation of the drain block. It should be installed in the center hole of the tank.

Consider how to assemble the cistern together with the toilet:

1. We unscrew the plastic union nut.
2. Place the mechanism in the hole in the center.
3. We lubricate the gasket with a sealant and install it on the neck of the glass of the drain mechanism.
4. We place a nut over the gasket and carefully tighten it until it stops.
5. Place the water valve in the hole on the side. We first unscrew the nut, and apply sealant to the sealing collar.
6. The mechanism is secured with a wrench and nut.
7. We install the tank on the bottom of the toilet. We insert the bolts into the side holes, put on a gasket on the thread and tighten the bolt.

That's all, actually. The assembly of the cistern is complete. Now you need to fix the tank to the toilet bowl.

On the shelf, you can find a hole that has a recess for an O-ring. To increase grip and improve moisture resistance, it is best to lubricate the hole with sealant.

We remove the protective tape and put the gasket into the groove with the side on which the adhesive is applied. We press the bottom of the tank to the base of the toilet. Make sure the bolts line up with the holes. The nuts should now be tightened.

It would be wrong to leave the question of installing the button cover unanswered. If you have all the details, there will not be many questions:

1. We lower the lid on the tank and trim along the edges.
2. We screw the button onto the intended rod. If there is no backlash, it means that we have coped with the task.
3. We check the work of the fittings. Press the button and the tank should be emptied. The button should work smoothly, not get stuck.
4. Now you can assemble the toilet. When it is fixed in its rightful place, it remains to install the cover.

Self-assembly of the toilet

Installing a wall-hung toilet is much more difficult than fixing a floor-standing one. For the most part, this happens because the tank itself is not visible to the eye, which means that you need to cover everything with drywall or stick the tiles. Working with fixing a floor-standing toilet consists of only two steps: the assembly itself and the installation of the entire structure.

Reference! Most of the toilet bowls, especially if they are floor-standing and a well-known manufacturer, are sold ready-made. The delivery consists of two elements, the toilet itself and the sealed tank. If there are any differences, it will be in the assembly.

There are other manufacturers as well. They, wishing to make the product cheaper, deliver it disassembled, placing all responsibility for the final result on the buyer. The mechanism is laid separately, next to it is the float. All this must be set independently.

In fact, there is nothing complicated: the drain system and the float are secured with a nut using a sealing gasket. Considering that the nut is made of plastic and it is only one in the kit, you need to tighten it by hand, tightly, but without applying titanic efforts. Otherwise, the plastic will simply crack, and you can't do without going to the store for a new one.

Most of all, questions arise with the assembly of the tank. It is necessary to fine-tune its mechanism, and this is not so easy. We have to adjust the water supply mechanism, drain and overflow systems. It is from all this that the quality work of the toilet depends.

If you look closely at the entire structure, you will notice the adjusting screws. They are on the drain and on the float. The overflow system is adjusted simply by changing the length of the telescopic tube. Once all the elements are assembled, you can start installing the tank on the toilet bowl.

The drain tank is secured with two screws. In addition, you need to install a large rubber pad, which is also included in the kit. The gasket is put on the outlet of the drain mechanism, then washers are put on. Then cone-shaped rubber seals are inserted into the drain hole located at the bottom of the tank.

Now is the time to install the tank in its place. To do this, you need to align all three holes and tighten the fastening screws using the thumbs. We tighten by hand, without any keys.
