Discreet white kitchen with extendable dining table

During the construction of our house, my husband and I watched many seasons of the My Kitchen project, studied how other participants equip the premises. Many ideas seemed close, and now it's our time to equip our own kitchen.

We did not have to globally redo anything, and even a ready-made cosmetic repair was completely satisfactory for us. True, the choice of finishing options was a little limited, but on the other hand, this allowed significant savings. We have created a kitchen project taking into account the existing circumstances.

I was glad that initially the developer provided for a sufficient number of sockets, this is important in the kitchen. They did not lay out the apron with tiles, as originally planned, they stopped at the skinning. There was no need to change or move the walls, we successfully arranged everything in real conditions.

We ordered a corner kitchen set, I liked this idea. Furniture and large household appliances stand up very compactly, it is convenient to work, everything is at hand.

According to the project, they did not fill the large opening into the living room, this made it possible to slightly expand the room visually. In this regard, calm tones were chosen for the decoration so that the interior of the kitchen would not attract much attention. They searched for the set for a long time, monitored prices in different companies, until they found the company Just Furniture. I would like to note that in different firms the prices for the same project differ significantly.

I wanted to achieve color harmony in the interior. Facades made of laminated chipboard of pearlescent color look simple and discreet. The working wall was decorated with skins, identical in color with the tabletops of the headset. The successful combination of wood decor and wall decoration allowed maintaining the unity of the space.

The material of the headset was not chosen by chance, earlier we had furniture from chipboard. The quality characteristics are high, the care of laminated surfaces is simple, and the cost is pleasing. Furniture made from this material is an order of magnitude cheaper than a similar headset, made, for example, of wood.

The design was chosen by joint efforts, the project was created together with a designer from a furniture factory. As a result, we got exactly what we wanted - a comfortable, functional, ergonomic headset. They basically abandoned open shelves in favor of hanging cabinets under the ceiling. As the designer commented, high-ceilinged cabinets are a modern trend.

First of all, I wanted to get as much storage space as possible. On open shelves, small things quickly accumulate, which make it difficult to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen. Tall wall units make cleaning easy. And with a closed top tier, the headset looks more complete.

Our favorite place is the dining area. There is a sliding table with a tile top. The most durable material, easy to use. The table can accommodate many guests. The chairs were left as old as they were, they moved with us from the old apartment. In terms of style, they do not quite fit into the new interior, but they do not stand out in color. Therefore, we are using them for now.

They did not hang the curtains, they too conceal an already small space. We stopped at cassette roller blinds on the windows. Convenience is that they do not collect dust and grease. We also hung up a light transparent tulle and sewed it to order.

There was an idea to purchase built-in household appliances for convenience, but our old gadgets are also in perfect condition. The oven and hob made in Belarus are devices of excellent quality, we have been using them for more than a year. We have had a microwave oven for more than eight years, and has never failed. Our favorite rarity, such models are no longer even produced.

Had to spend money on the sink and mixer. A sink made of artificial stone and a bronze mixer cost about 18,000 rubles, but they look very decent. The angular arrangement is not at all inconvenient.

The large opening made it possible to create a combined space of the kitchen and living room, so there was no point in installing a TV in the kitchen. My husband suggested an interesting option, and we put the screen on a swing arm. Now we have the opportunity to watch programs, not only relaxing in the living room, but also while cooking and eating.

We ordered a kitchen set for 100.0 thousand rubles, the cost includes work on the delivery and installation of furniture. The dining table cost almost 12 thousand rubles, but given its functionality, it is worth the money. In total, we spent 170.0 rubles to equip the kitchen in a new apartment, which is not much even taking into account that we did not have to do cosmetic repairs to the surfaces.

I really like our kitchen, despite some shortcomings that stand out from the overall concept. Of course, modern style involves the use of more concise solutions. In the future, it will be possible to change household appliances to built-in gadgets, hang a modern chandelier, replace fittings and a mixer, choose a more suitable tulle for the window.

Since we tried to save money on repairs and fit into the existing realities what we had, we got a kind of designer vinaigrette. It is even difficult to determine which style our interior is more related to. But the advantage is that all these shortcomings are easily fixable, and over time we will definitely fix the mistakes.
