For domestic work, usually when choosing a shop, ask screwdrivers of three capacities (according to everyday estimates):

  • anyway, which one - if only to spin.

Let's start with the third parameter. This is a normal rechargeable screwdriver. The torque is about 10 n-m. With this screwdriver, you can unscrew or twist the small fasteners, repair children's toys or loosely clamped furniture bolts.

According to the second estimate, this is a normal screwdriver with a torque of up to 20 n-m. They can already unscrew, twist any fasteners or something small drill. But basically such tools with such data are used only as a screwdriver, that is, when it is necessary to unscrew or twist something.

On the first parameter - "helper" - is an electric tool with a torque of 30-40 n-m and above. They can unscrew-twist everything you need and use it as a drill.

By the way, the power of the screw driver is not always indicated in Newton meters. There is another unit of power measurement - voltage. True, this is an obsolete name for the unit of measurement of electrical potential, but it is sometimes used. When choosing a screw driver, focus on the amount of voltage - the higher it is, the more powerful the tool.

Types of batteries

There is one more parameter, without knowledge of which one can not do with the purchase of a screwdriver - the material used in the manufacture of the battery tool.

Batteries come in the following types:

  • nickel-cadmium - marking on them looks like this - NiCd. They have a memory effect, that is, before charging, the battery should be discharged completely, to zero. If you do not work every day five days a week with a screwdriver for 6 hours in a row, then this parameter is not very important for you. If even the battery is suddenly discharged, then it will not be a big problem to put it on recharging.

  • reverse - switch the direction of rotation, thanks to this option, you can twist or unscrew;
  • a quick-release chuck allowing quick clamping or, conversely, quickly removing the nozzle;
  • adjustment of the clamping force or electronic brake, that is, if you clamp the nozzle in the cartridge, the screwdriver stops itself.

Options such as backlight, a magnet for bits and attachments, a belt hook is not available on all screwdrivers, but they are not so important for working at home.
