The use of fertilizers for garden flowers in spring and summer

Content of the article:

Garden plants that grow in the open field, need regular feeding. Over time, the supply of nutrients in the soil is depleted, and the flowers begin to "starve", which negatively affects their appearance. Timely application of fertilizers will not only provide them with essential trace elements for active development, but also help to adapt more quickly after the winter period.

It is necessary to feed garden flowers with the onset of spring, and also to support the plants during the summer period. The frequency of fertilization depends on the type of culture( annuals or perennials).

Preparations in granular form are used for spring dressing by direct embedding in the soil. For the summer period, liquid forms that are used for root and leaf supplements are more suitable.

Peculiarities of fertilizing annual garden flowers

Plants that are planted for one season are enough to feed only 2 times:

  • in spring( 2 weeks after planting);
  • at the end of spring - at the beginning of summer( when budding is in progress).

Do not fertilize flowers that have just been planted on a flowerbed - you need to give them time to adapt. In addition, fertilizing should be applied to completely healthy plants.

During the first feeding, nitrogen should be planted using organic fertilizers. During the growing season, flowers need phosphate fertilizers.

Features of the use of fertilizers for perennials

Perennial garden flowers and shrubs need to be fed at least 3 times:

  • first dressing - in early spring, when the ground dries out( nitrogen fertilizers);
  • second feeding - during the period of bud formation, May-June( phosphate preparations);
  • third dressing - after flowering ends, August( potash fertilizers for budding the next season).

It is impossible to fertilize garden flowers in early spring, when there is still snow on the flowerbed, and during the rest period.
