A variety of dishes
Not all dishes are suitable for use in a microwave oven. It is strictly forbidden to put metal containers( the only exception is the grill grates, which are installed by the manufacturers of household appliances).It is not safe, as it can spark and even lead to fire. Also not every glassware is suitable for a microwave - only special, heat resistant and without metallized pattern.
Tableware options - a great many. Therefore, we consider each of its form for a microwave oven separately.
Glass
Glassware can often be found in the kitchen arsenal of modern housewives. And it is not surprising, because it is extremely easy to use, and the dish cooked in it has no extraneous odors and tastes, since glass is made exclusively from natural materials.
It is convenient to cook in glass dishes, since due to its transparency you can follow the cooking process. Even to care for it is easy - the food almost does not burn and does not stick to the walls, and if something is stuck, then it will not be difficult to wash it. Modern glassware has good hardening. Therefore, it is able to withstand temperatures up to 230C.This means that it can be used in the oven, limited to a given temperature.
It is not recommended to drastically heat or cool glassware. This will make it fragile and may lead to its destruction.Clay
Clay is an environmentally friendly material that perfectly preserves the temperature. For use in a microwave, clay plates are quenched at very high temperatures. Therefore, it is possible to put it in any oven - gas and electric, not limited to any mode.
Pottery does not tolerate large temperature differences, so it should be heated gradually, and not put in a very heated oven. Such a jump in temperature can spoil not only the dishes, but also the food prepared in it.Ceramic
The widespread use of ceramics has made it more sophisticated and versatile. The manufacturing techniques of this material have changed a lot since its invention. In fact, it is the same clay, only with the addition of strengthening impurities. The density of the walls of ceramic products makes cooking time minimal, since this material keeps the temperature well. Even after getting food from the microwave, it will still languish for some time, keeping warm and giving the dish a unique taste.
The use of ceramic containers in the oven is not prohibited. The only nuance that should be taken into account is plastic elements( pens, holders), or rather their presence or absence. They may melt from the heat. If your pan or plate does not contain such additions, then you can safely put it in the oven, without worrying about the result. After all, dishes in such dishes turn out juicy, the food almost does not stick to the walls, and cleaning the surface from contamination is a minute thing. In addition, ceramics is highly durable and is not afraid of any temperature changes or shocks.
Porcelain
Porcelain is a more refined material than ceramics. In the manufacturing process, it does not undergo such hardening and therefore is not able to withstand high temperatures. But porcelain dishes fully withstand the temperature of the microwave. And in the oven it can be used only at sufficiently low temperatures - up to 200 C. Therefore, if your dish requires 150 C, then the porcelain will cope. But it's better not to risk it and use another container for the oven.
The microwave itself involves heating food, not dishes. This is fundamentally different from cooking in an oven, in which food is heated from a heated pot. The fact that you can safely use in the microwave: porcelain cups and pots, simple plates and bowls, is absolutely not recommended to put in the oven.
Polymer
Due to its lightness and variety of forms, polymeric dishes became widespread. Therefore, on the shelves of stores it can be found in a wide range. As a rule, the dishes are made from:
- nylon;
- Caprone;
- food grade plastic.
When used in a microwave, such a container does not heat up much. She is not afraid and cold and you can safely keep food in the refrigerator. Due to its relative weightlessness, its transportation is extremely convenient. However, such dishes are not suitable for use in the oven, as its melting point is too low.
Polymeric plates and containers can not be called universal, as they are not suitable for the oven. But on the other hand, they perform their functions perfectly - using in the microwave.
