Incorrect planting of incompatible plantsenough sunlight, this is still not enough to create the perfect garden you dream of. Novice gardeners often do not take into account many factors and make typical mistakes. For example, on my backyard, rocky, sandy soil and more shady areas than the sun. When I started gardening, the first few years I made mistakes, not taking into account these and many other features.
It is good that I am not so dependent on my landings, as, for example, farmers or just rural people, for whom the harvest is the main source of income and food. Nevertheless, it is nice to see the results of your work in the form of a sufficient amount of vegetables, fruits and berries, as well as beautiful flower beds and well-groomed lawns.
Even now I occasionally make some mistakes. I don't spend enough time preparing the ground, which is extremely important. And in particularly hot and humid summer months I have moments of complete despair - when I have to start weeding, I just don’t do it.
And yet I can say that over the past few years I have gained some experience and achieved a lot of success in gardening. Of course, it is still too early for me to win prizes for the largest samples of vegetables and fruits, or the most beautiful and well-kept garden, but now my personal plot at least looks much better than before.

I’ll tell you about the four most common mistakes novice gardeners have through which I myself had to go. I hope that my advice will be useful to those who are just beginning to engage in their personal plots - avoiding mistakes, they will have a better chance of success!
Planting too many plant species
When you are new to gardening, do not get carried away in the first year with a variety of plantings. I understand that this is a rather tempting idea - to plant a bit of everything, but you will have a better chance of success if you limit yourself to just a few varieties, and next year add new types of plants.
When I first ordered non-hybrid seeds in an online store, I overdid it a little with the number of varieties — I wanted to try growing them all. But as it turned out later, it takes a very long time to track the growth and development of a large number of plant species and learn about each of them as much as possible - how to plant them properly, what conditions are necessary for their cultivation, and so on.
Now, having enough experience behind my shoulders, I know exactly which plant species are most suitable for growing in my garden, and which are not. And if I could return a few years ago — during my first plantings — I'd rather have planted some light for growing vegetables, such as peas and beans.
Planting Plants Too Close to Each Other
This mistake of novice gardeners is inextricably linked to that described above. If you want to plant as many types of plants as possible, then you will try to fill your plot to the maximum with seedlings and seeds.

When I first started gardening, I dreamed of a rich harvest, and I tried, as far as possible, to sow the seeds close to each other. It seemed to me that the more I sow, the richer my harvest will be. In addition, I did not thin out seedlings from seeds, because I could not bear to pull out completely healthy plants.
Because of my mistakes, instead of a rich harvest, I received weak, slow-growing plants. In addition, it was difficult to get close to plantings without trampling them, since I had completely forgotten to leave enough space around the plants.
The conclusion from my sad experience is this: the less crowded, the better the harvest. A smaller number of plants located at a sufficient distance from each other is a guarantee of stronger, healthier shoots and a good harvest of vegetables, fruits or berries.
Improper watering - too frequent or at inappropriate times.
I made this mistake many times. Novice gardeners are too concerned about enough water for their plants, so they often fill them by mistake. Undoubtedly, some species of plants require more frequent watering, but in general they react better to moderate watering or irrigation( as during rain) than to heavy watering from a hose — when every time you pass by plants you feel that they lackwater.

In addition, watering time is very important. The best period is the beginning of the day, not the evening. Excessive humidity at night can cause fungal diseases, especially for those plants that do not tolerate too wet conditions.
Incorrect planting of incompatible plants
If it seems to you that you have corrected all the mistakes, but the garden still does not thrive, pay attention to which plants are planted with each other. Incompatibility of plants can be the main cause of your failures.
The neighborhood of some plant species is really useful - it helps protect them from insects and pests, and also contributes to the enrichment of the soil. However, there are such species that can inhibit the growth of neighboring plants.
Proper planting planning with regard to species compatibility will give you more chances to succeed in gardening and have the perfect garden of your dreams.
