Lacquered footwear care often causes a lot of trouble. Nevertheless, shoes with aristocratic glossy shine still remain fashionable and stylish, which means that the most basic and affordable rules for caring for her should be known to all. So, how to care for lacquered shoes and how effectively can you keep its original appearance as long as possible?

Not for any weather!

Despite the fact that the skin itself is a fairly strong and extremely durable material, wear shoes with a varnish surface should not be at a temperature lower than minus 5. For her, temperature fluctuations are harmful, and frost contributes to the formation of cracks in the varnish. Even modern thermal protective equipment on patent leather shoes are not effective, so choosing such winter boots is at least not practical.

In the heat, wearing patent leather shoes or sandals is even dangerous for health.

The fact is that the lacquer clogs the pores of the skin and it stops breathing, as a result, the feet sweat, the likelihood of the development of fungal diseases and the inconvenience associated with it sharply increases. Therefore, wearing such shoes regularly is definitely not worth it. At high temperatures( more than 25 ° C), the lacquer film can be deformed and stretched, thereby depriving the shoes of an attractive appearance. For the same reason, it cannot be cleaned with a large amount of water or foam.

Wet weather is also not the best environment for patent leather shoes. Under the influence of moisture varnish dims, and in consequence of it cracks begin to form. The perfect weather for such shoes is warm( but not hot) and dry.

Daily maintenance of varnished shoes.

An important rule when taking care of this shoe is regular and gentle cleaning of dirt and dust. This can be done in the following ways:

  • to clean the surface of the shoe with a slightly damp sponge made of soft fabric( you can use milk as an impregnation, thanks to which contamination is easier to go away);
  • wet weather, snow or temperature changes make the skin firm, you can return it to softness with the help of castor oil, vaseline or glycerin;
  • can polish the surface of such shoes with a velvet cloth.

It is not recommended to clean varnish boots and shoes with universal cleaning agents for shoes. Often they are made on the basis of alcohol, and the alcohol dries the varnish, and it cracks. For the same reason, do not use the coloring cream and all sorts of impregnation with toner. To care for lacquer shoes, you can use either special products for a particular skin type, or you can prepare cleaning compositions yourself. One of the most common recipes is the following:

  • yolk;
  • a teaspoon of refined vegetable oil;
  • three tablespoons of turpentine.

The use of this mixture returns the skin's natural softness and elasticity, so that the varnish does not crack and does not tarnish. If the creases and cracks have already appeared, you can try to get rid of them with a regenerating cream, but it is better to entrust the procedure to an experienced master. If time does not take care of the "cupping" of cracks, they will quickly grow and return the shoe to its former appearance, unfortunately, will no longer be possible.

How to dry and store

Drying lacquer shoes under the batteries or using an electric dryer can not. It should dry itself in a well-ventilated area. It is also not recommended to expose it in the sun, as in this case the lacquer will practically begin to fade. Another point: when drying shoes should not come into contact with other objects( at this moment it is especially vulnerable and the slightest blow can cause a crack).

Proper care of lacquered shoes also means keeping them safe. To do this, each shoe should be folded in a separate case( you can wrap it in paper, but not in polyethylene) and put them in a cardboard box with small holes. If shoes with heels or with metal decorative elements, it is also advisable to make a kind of pillow made of cotton for extra protection.

You shouldn’t clean varnished shoes before going outside, it’s better to do it when you get home: this way you will get rid of dirt and protect the varnish layer from drying out and damage. These simple and affordable recommendations will allow for a long time to preserve the tidy and presentable appearance of any varnish shoes. Many manufacturers often on the boxes of such products indicate a list of necessary( authorized) procedures for the care, so pay attention to them.
