and increased egg production, but at the same time they fully preserved the record early ripeness for poultry.

The growth rate depends on the specific breed, but most egg quails are ready to enter adult life at the age of one and a half months.

When planting domestic quail, you need to know that all birds give the same high-quality products. But the intensity and duration of the period of egg production directly depends on the choice of breed. Large meat quails are carried by 30–40% less than egg quails. In addition, it is not worth waiting for long returns from beef breeds, while born layers do not slow down throughout the year.

How many eggs can a quail bring?

How many eggs does a quail carry per day? For a year, laying hens of egg breeds can provide the poultry breeder with three hundred dietary eggs that do not affect the causative agent of salmonellosis, do not cause allergies, and are recommended even for babies. If you count this number for one day, the figure will seem tiny, but with a population of more than 10 birds, the average family will not be left without quail eggs.

But what if, after becoming the owner of a quail herd, the poultry farmer sees that his charges do not rush, or the number of eggs brought far from the planned? There may be several reasons why quails are not rushing or not fully meeting the expectations of people, but they all lie in the peculiarities of keeping and feeding the birds.

Errors in feeding and care - causes of egg production decline

The basis of good egg production is a well-chosen diet that is able to support the body of the hen, prevent it from depleting ahead of time and ensuring proper egg quality.

Asking the question: “Why do not the quails rush?”, The poultry farmer must first of all analyze the composition of the feed and the standard that the quail receives every day.

Experienced quail breeders say that the best choice is balanced feed containing everything you need for growth and egg production. They take into account all the needs of birds for protein, fats, carbohydrates, trace elements and vitamins. If the balance is disturbed for some reason, for example, the composition of the mixture changes, the bird is transferred to pasture or vice versa, in the fall, into a cage, this will inevitably affect the number of eggs.

After a sharp replacement of the diet, the egg production returns in a couple of weeks, but it is better not to allow this, especially for the gradually introduced feed, it is easier to track the reaction and take measures in time.

When quails begin to rush, food for them is prepared taking into account the increasing needs of the body and is served only fresh. Unbalanced or poor quality feeds in the diet can cause the most unpredictable reactions and disturbing symptoms.

Calcium deficiency leads to eggshell brittleness. A lack of calories and nutrients leads to the fact that the quail rushes, wasting all its strength. If urgent measures are not taken, in the first case the poultry farmer’s family will be out of production, and in the second, the bird will face rapid deterioration of the body.

Poor-quality, too rough or fermented feed adversely affects the digestion of small birds, weakening, getting sick and refusing to rush.

Before housing quail quails at home, birds are sheltered from shelters that are protected from drafts and sudden changes in temperature. Unfortunately, many novice poultry farmers lose an egg only because of the ill-conceived construction of the cells or the poorly chosen place for them. Getting into a draft, quails can lose their plumage and get sick more often.

Having chosen a room suitable for quails, the cells try to put in a permanent place so that then they no longer disturb. Any intervention in life, whether moving the house or sharing the new neighbors, is disturbing in the hens. It also negatively affects the number of eggs given.

The reasons why quails do not rush are kept in too wet, unventilated rooms, as well as in cages where the bird is too crowded. However, excessive dryness of the air, lack of drinking water, content in the heat or in the cold - the reason for quails to refuse to give eggs.

Poultry farmers need to remember that any violations of the conditions of housing entail a deterioration in the health of quails, and it is not correct to expect a good egg production from a weakened or sick bird!

The natural decline in egg production in birds of egg breeds occurs gradually by the age of one. Knowing this feature, you need to prepare a new generation of layers in advance.

How to maintain and increase quail egg production?

In order not to torment the question: “Why do not quails rush?”, A novice poultry farmer must strictly adhere to the rules for keeping hens, avoiding crowding in cages or, conversely, a single settlement in cages:

  1. On average, one laying quail must have at least 180centimeters square.
  2. Poultry should have easy access to feeders and watering systems.
  3. The temperature in the house is maintained at 20–22 ° C.
  4. The optimum air humidity is 60–70% with mandatory ventilation.
  5. The daylight hours for the hens are 16–18 hours, while the quails leave the “on-duty” dim light at night.
  6. Cells are thoroughly cleaned daily, disinfecting feeders, drinkers, and litter pans.

In feed for laying hens include vegetable and animal proteins, vitamins and minerals. If you know and follow the rules prescribing how to keep quails at home, there will be no problems with the refusal of the birds to fly or a sharp decrease in the number of eggs.
