How to mount a fence from the netting of the chain-link at the dacha

conclusion Installing a chain-link fence is the easiest and most inexpensive way to mark the boundaries of your summer cottage. A sufficiently durable metal mesh “saves” our compatriots in the demarcation of territories, since GOST requires only transparent fences to be used between adjacent areas. Despite the apparent simplicity of this design, installing a net fence with your hands requires certain knowledge and compliance with installation rules, which will be discussed in this publication.

Advantages and disadvantages of a chain-link fence

Contrary to popular belief, a chain-link is not a way of interlacing the wire, but the name of a German builder who invented and patented a metal plaster grid. Despite this seemingly narrow specialization, the chain-link mesh has become widely used in the creation of light enclosing structures.

The advantages of a fence made of this material are many, and one of the main factors is its low cost. In addition:

  1. It’s quite simple to make a fence out of the netting mesh, the design does not imply the presence of a foundation and a massive frame.
  2. The enclosure made of this material is distinguished by excellent light and air permeability. The last point is especially important in areas with significant wind loads.
  3. Metal mesh can withstand quite high mechanical loads.

An important advantage of chain-link fences is high installation speed. To create a reliable and high-quality fencing of six acres, two people spend no more than two days. The design showed itself perfectly on heaving soils with a great depth of freezing.

The main disadvantage of the chain-link is rather weak protection. It will not be difficult for a prepared attacker to make a hole in such a fence by simply “biting” the wire with pliers. Nevertheless, it is quite difficult to overcome the barrier from a properly tensioned grid “due to its high elasticity and bulk structure”.Under mechanical action, the web is bent and springy as a single surface.

Design options

Structurally, any fence from a chain-link mesh requires the presence of a supporting structure. There are three main ways of installing the chain-link mesh on the supporting structure.

  • tension, on a string or cable;
  • mounted, along guide rails( slam);
  • assembly method.

The most elastic are the tension structures of fences from the netting chain-link.

. The design of such fences is as follows: between the supporting pillars the wire( cable) is tensioned, to which the mesh is fastened. In practice, this process involves passing the tensioning element through the grid cells along the lower and upper part of the web. As a result, the design is non-rigid.

The advantage of the tension mounting method is the minimum consumption of materials.

Disadvantages: When the ground freezes or significant mechanical effects on the support structure, some post displacements are possible - from a few millimeters to several centimeters.

The method of installing the grid along the guides implies the presence of two parallel prozilin, rigidly fixed between the supporting pillars. Instead of a string( wire, cable) to the posts are attached guides from a metal pipe or wooden beam.

Advantages: this design makes the fence more rigid and solid.

Disadvantages: when the ground moves( on heaving soils), a significant deformation of the fence is possible, which may lead to damage to its integrity. The problem is solved by increasing the depth of laying the supporting pillars below the ground freezing point for a particular region.

Section fence from a chain-link mesh is done as follows:

  1. support columns are installed along the perimeter of the fenced area. The distance between the racks is 2.5 - 2.7 m.
  2. With the help of a welding machine, frames are created from a metal corner on which the grid is fixed.
  3. Finished sections are welded to support posts.

Advantages of prefabricated sectional construction: durability, aesthetic design, higher anti-vandal properties.

Disadvantages: such fences are expensive to manufacture and practically not maintainable. The rigidity of the structure requires an even greater depth of laying of pillars, especially on the abyssal and clayey soils. That is why sectional metal mesh fences are usually not considered by most of our compatriots as fences of a private territory.

Material selection rules

The aesthetics, durability and cost of the fence is directly dependent on the quality of the material. Today, the domestic construction market offers four types of chain-link mesh:

  1. Steel without coating. The only advantage of this grid is its low cost, which is leveled by the increase in maintenance costs. Such material must be painted annually to prevent corrosion.
  2. Galvanized metal mesh. This material does not require staining, resistant to weathering. The cost of galvanized chain-link is almost two times higher than that of the analog without a protective coating.
  3. Plasticized fabric. The metal of such a mesh is coated with a polymer layer, which ensures a longer service life of the material.
  4. Plastic fencing is characterized by resistance to UV radiation and weathering, variability of the shape of cells and colors. The main disadvantage is low tensile strength.

The range of the presented material increases due to different cell sizes, which can vary from 25 to 75 mm.

Experts recommend using a rabbit with a mesh size of 40 to 60 mm to fencing the area. Such dimensions are due to the ideal ratio of price and carrying capacity of the grid.

The order of execution of work

Installation of a fence from a chain-link grid begins with the creation of a support structure. Wooden, metal and concrete pillars are used as the main bearing element. Wood requires mandatory impregnation with an antiseptic. It is recommended to wrap the underground part of wooden posts with roofing felt or soak it with resin. For the fence, you must use a bar or log with a diameter of 100 to 150 mm.

Concrete supports - this is one of the most inconvenient options for creating the support part of the fence. The canvas will have to be attached to the pole with wire or clamps, which significantly reduces the protective and operational characteristics of the fence. Square metal pillars with a section of 60x60 or 60x40 mm are the most suitable material for creating the supporting structure of the fence from a chain-link mesh.

The installation of the pillars is as follows:

  1. Supports are placed at the corners of the site.
  2. Between them, two cords are stretched, along which the rest of the elements are placed. The top one is used to determine the level;lower to respect the vertical. The distance between the supports - 2.5-3 m.

The corner posts will have a high load, especially with the tension mounting method of the grid. To increase the resistance to mechanical loads, it is necessary to provide booms, which are rigidly fixed with angular supports.

The easiest way to install the pillars is to install them in the hole for filling with sand or rubble without concreting. It is this technique that allows water to be naturally diverted to the lower layers of the soil. When the soil freezes, moisture will not be enough to push out or at least somehow move the support from the seat. The depth of laying the pillars usually does not exceed 1/3 of the total length of the support.

When installing support pillars using a backing method( backfill with tamping) at the bottom of the hole, a drainage layer of rubble 15-20 cm thick must be provided.

to the corner( first) post. Further, on each column, pieces of thick wire or reinforcement are welded onto which( after some tension) a mesh is placed. After that, the pieces of metal are bent for the most reliable fixation of the web on the supporting pillars.

The second and more reliable method involves a tension mounting option. A wire is passed through the upper edge of the web( through each cell). You can, of course, fasten it directly to the pole, but the top of the grid can sag. To prevent sagging, it is recommended to use special tensioners or lanyards.

If the hinged structure is chosen along the guides, then the canvas can be attached to the logs using wire or plates welded to the rail.

In any case, it is necessary to fix the canvas along the entire length of the log. When using plates, the distance between them should not exceed 70 cm. With point mounting options for guides, the following should be observed: the distance between fixation points should not exceed 25 cm.

Asd conclusion

Rabits at the dacha. As can be seen from the above, the options for the execution of the fence - a great many. The main thing is to competently approach the issues of creating a support structure and not save on materials. Use this publication as an instruction, and you will definitely succeed.
