Most gardeners prefer to grow it on their own, because home saplings are in many ways superior to purchased ones - they are stronger and more resistant to diseases. However, it often happens that for certain reasons, seedlings of tomatoes and other vegetables begin to stretch. This is due to violations in the care of plants.
How to prevent stretching?
The situation, of course, is not pleasant, but it can be corrected. Today, there are many drugs that are used specifically to inhibit the growth of seedlings, the so-called retardants. As a result of watering or spraying the plants with the prepared solution, the growth of shoots and deciduous mass is slowed down. There is a redistribution of useful substances with their further direction to the development of the root system.
When choosing retardants, it is worthwhile to carefully study the instructions, since they can be dangerous.
Experienced gardeners are advised to treat the seedlings so that it does not stretch, with such drugs as:
- Athlete;
- StopProst.
These brands are widely known as they do an excellent job of pulling out seedlings and help to return the seedlings to their former appearance. In addition, they are practically safe for humans and bees.
Treatment of seedlings by an Athlete
The preparation Athlete is intended to control the growth of seedlings, as well as to improve the quality and quantity of the crop and prevent diseases. As a result of the treatment of seedlings by the Athlete, they reduce the growth rate in height and begin to actively form the root system. The main shoot becomes thicker, and the leaves grow in size. In addition, the composition of the substance stimulates the earlier appearance of the ovaries and in larger quantities, which allows increasing the yield by at least 30%.
Use of the drug The athlete must be discontinued 4 days before transplanting.
For watering or spraying seedlings, dissolve 1 ampoule in a liter of water and apply as follows:
- Cabbage seedlings. Water under the root, the consumption rate - a liter of solution per 1 square.m. The number of treatments - at least three with a break of a week.
- Seedlings pepper and eggplant. Spray or pour once at the rate of 50 ml of solution on 1 young seedling with 3 true leaves.
- Seedlings tomato. Sprinkle once the same way as pepper, or spend 3 sprays. For the first treatment on the leaves to use the solution, as in watering. The following two sprays to a more concentrated solution, using 0.5 liters of water per ampoule. The frequency of treatment is once a week.
After watering the seedlings with the Athlete's solution, the next feed with plain water can be done no earlier than 2 days, and after spraying - every other day.
Stopprost against pulling out seedlings
Spraying of seedlings with the solution of the preparation Stoprot has also recommended itself. To do this, 0.5 bags of powder diluted in 5 liters of water. This solution is enough to handle approximately 70 square meters.m. Spraying should be done 2-3 times.
