system? Of course, it takes a fridge. About him and will be discussed in today's article. In particular, we will talk about such a concept as No Frost in the fridge. What it is? How does it work and what are its advantages and disadvantages? Below we describe in detail all this.

What is the No Frost

technology? Modern models are so advanced that they practically do not require care and care. Just a few decades ago, women spent at least half of their days off every month to perform a religious rite called "defrosting a refrigerator."Today, many young housewives are not at all familiar with this concept. This was made possible by new developments in the field of cooling systems.

In modern units, two fundamentally different cooling technologies are used: drip and Nou Frost. The first is more common and is already well known. But there are still a lot of questions about the second one.

If you believe the promises of manufacturers, No Frost system refrigerators do not need to be defrosted. The fact is that frost on the walls of the refrigerator arises due to the increased humidity inside the chamber. Water droplets freeze and eventually turn into an ice crust.

Refrigerator with No Frost system works without the formation of frost and ice. This, by the way, is indicated by the very name of the technology.“Know Frost” literally means “without frost / frost.”This effect is achieved by including several fans in the system. Cold air flows into the inner walls of the chamber and dry the droplets of moisture formed. Thus, the frost on the walls is practically not formed, and hence the snow cap just nowhere to take.

In refrigerators equipped with No Frost technology, the evaporator is placed outside the chamber and forcibly blown by using one or several coolers. Frost in such units is still formed, but not in the chamber, but on the tubes and fins of the cooling system. From time to time, a special heater is turned on, which automatically defrosts the system. The liquid is collected in a pan, hidden behind the compressor, and the process starts over again.

Although dry-frozen refrigerators have been specifically designed for use in countries with a fairly humid climate, they are also widespread in our region.

Pros and cons of Nou Frost

The popularity of the non-freeze system is growing every day. But the traditional drip system is also not losing ground. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the system "without frost"?

Positive aspects of

  • Do not require close attention of the hostess. It is enough to defrost it once, a maximum of twice a year. At other times, you just need to wipe the shelves and doors.
  • You will never see frost or condensate droplets on the walls of the chamber. It will never flow and “cry.”
  • Plus is also the cooling rate of products. Wind-cooled refrigerators perform their task much faster.
  • Have the same temperature in all compartments. An exception may be only a separately programmable zone of freshness.
  • No Frost is suitable for both the cooling chamber and the freezer compartment.
  • Very quickly restore the set temperature after opening / closing the door.
  • In some models there is a quick dry freezing function, which is very popular with many housewives.

Negatives

  • Due to the built-in fans that supply cold air into the chamber, the real internal volume of such models is somewhat less than it might seem at first glance.
  • For the same reason, “But Frost” consumes slightly more electricity than their drip mates.
  • Differs slightly more noisy work. However, the most modern models are equipped with enhanced noise insulation, so that an increased number of decibels is almost imperceptible.
  • The air circulating in the chamber of the No Frost refrigerator drains not only the walls, but also the products. To prevent a similar effect, products should be packaged in plastic containers or wrapped with cling film.
  • . Probably the biggest disadvantage of such refrigerators is the price, which is slightly higher than that of the drop counterparts.

Frost Free

When buying a refrigerator, some housewives are faced with a name like Frost Free or Fresh Frost Free. What does such a name mean and how do these refrigerators differ from the classic “Know Frost”.

Frost Free Refrigerators are a combination. Refrigerator compartment and freezer with this technology are separated from each other, nevertheless, they work from one compressor.

Freezer is most often located at the bottom and works on the system "Nou Frost".But in the upper chamber is supposed to drip cooling system. The temperature in the cooling chamber of such a refrigerator varies depending on the height and ranges from +5 to +8 degrees Celsius. Humidity is maintained at 70–80.

Full No Frost

Another fairly new name for an unenlightened customer is the “Ful No Frost” system. Here we are talking about the presence of two completely separate systems operating on the principle of No Frost. Each of the systems has its own compressor, evaporator, coolers and an individually closed circuit.

Roughly speaking, these are two separate units - a refrigerator and a freezer, put one on another. One of the advantages of such a system is that if you, for example, have a compressor in the freezer, the medium-temperature cooling chamber will continue to work as if nothing had happened.

Total No Frost

This system is almost identical to the previous one and differs, in fact, only by its name. By the way, these systems have one more important feature. Refrigerators with cooling Full No Frost and Total No Frost most often have additional circulation channels between the freezer and the refrigerator compartment.

On the one hand, it allows you to maintain a more even and cool temperature. But on the other hand, if you do not follow the rules for storing food, you risk getting ice cubes for a cocktail that have the smell of garlic.

Should I buy a No Frost

refrigerator? Of course, in the household appliances department, you will most likely be offered just such a model. This is not surprising, because we have already found out that No Frost refrigerators cost a little more, and the salary of a sales manager most often constitutes a percentage of the value of the goods. But perhaps you should pay attention to other models.

When choosing, you must take into account all the shortcomings mentioned above, and decide whether they really are critical for you. A weighty argument in favor of purchasing a Nou Frost refrigerator or a mixed type can be the presence of a quick dry freezing system. If you like to harvest berries, fruits and vegetables for the future, it’s better not to find such a system.

How to care for an aggregate with such an

system. Although refrigerator manufacturers "without frost" and promise that they will not have to be thawed, they should not be trusted. It is absolutely necessary to completely defrost a refrigerator at least once or twice a year. And it's not about freezing frost or ice. You really will not see them. Cleaning should be done for reasons of hygiene. The fact is that you cannot thoroughly wash and destroy various bacteria and microbes in it without disconnecting the refrigerator from the mains.

For those who have never washed a refrigerator in our life, we offer a small instruction on how to do it correctly:

  1. Set the temperature control to the lowest( zero) position and disconnect from the mains.
  2. Remove all products and wait until the temperature inside the chamber equals room temperature.
  3. Remove all shelves and drawers and rinse them under running warm( not hot!) Water.
  4. Wipe dry with a microfiber cloth or other non-fleecy fabric.
  5. Dissolve some baking soda in warm water( 1 tbsp. Without slides per liter of water).
  6. Wipe the inside walls of the refrigerator with a soft, clean cloth moistened with a solution. For cleaning especially hard-to-reach places, grooves and crevices, you can use an old soft-bristled toothbrush.
  7. After 15 minutes, wash the refrigerator again with cool clean water without adding any agents, and then wipe it with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  8. When all internal parts are completely dry, place shelves and drawers inside.
  9. Turn on the refrigerator, set the required temperature, and place the food inside the

. As you can see, there is nothing difficult in the process. Now you know what Know Frost is in the fridge and you can quite competently make your choice. Despite some rather minor flaws, the non-freezing refrigerator is a very profitable and rewarding purchase.
