Forms 3D

3D technology the image is available only when watching TV for special glasses. Although recently manufacturers are working on screens that will be able to transmit a three-dimensional image without any additional devices, until such devices are commercialized. Perhaps very soon everything will change, but today still have to choose a TV with special glasses.

Depending on the technology that was used, they are of two types: active and passive. Passive glasses are familiar to everyone who has ever been in a 3D cinema. These are simple cardboard or plastic frames with red and blue lenses. Active glasses are a more expensive device that connects to a television screen via an infrared port. As a rule, they work on batteries.

Passive technology

With this technology, the picture is fed to the screen from different angles to two eyes at the same time. Multicolored lenses combine different spectra into a three-dimensional picture. In this case, each eye receives exactly the intended image for it, which creates the illusion of a 3D effect. Unfortunately, with passive technology, the vertical resolution is halved, which may slightly affect the quality.

Advantages of passive technology:

  • TVs are equipped with four pairs of passive glasses;
  • glasses themselves are inexpensive and available in any store;
  • less strain on vision;
  • such 3D TVs are cheaper.

Disadvantages of passive technology:

  • if you choose such a TV, then the quality of the 3D picture will be lost while watching;
  • when turning the head appear glare on the image, while it is slightly cloudy.

Active technology.

With active technology, expensive shutter glasses are used. Their liquid crystal lenses are capable of delivering a brighter and deeper image. In this case, the picture is served in turn for each eye, and the glasses alternately cover the left and right sides. This happens very quickly, so the picture quality does not deteriorate. The active method allows you to display the image in full resolution both vertically and horizontally.

The advantages of active technology:

  • brighter and better image;
  • TVs with active technology do a good job with two-dimensional films, which cannot be said about devices with passive transfer of 3D images;
  • this technology is considered more advanced, so it gradually replaces the passive.

Disadvantages of active technology:

  • shutter type glasses are more expensive than simple two-tone;
  • when using it is necessary to periodically change the batteries;
  • eyes get tired much faster;
  • TVs with active technology are completed with only two pairs of such glasses.

Once you decide on the technology, you can select the size of the diagonal.

Select the diagonal

Before choosing a TV with the desired diagonal, it is necessary to measure the distance from the future screen to the eyes. Note that in 3D glasses you will have to watch movies right in front of the monitor, since the quality of the picture changes a little on the side. It may be worth relocating the TV cabinet or changing the mounting position on the wall.

If you are going to watch 3D movies only occasionally, and use the TV as usual during the rest of the time, consider the standard size requirements: the distance from the screen to your eyes should be at least three( three and a half) diagonals.

That is, with a 32-inch screen you need from 2.43 to 2.86 m. However, when viewing volume images, a smaller distance is required: only 1.56 from the diagonal( 1.25 m of free space is needed for the same 32-inch device).

Since TVs are usually rarely watched in 3D glasses, so as not to tire the eyes, it is better to choose a model taking into account the maximum distance. Let you sometimes sit down closer to the monitor, than constantly spoil the sight because of too large screen. Especially if you have children who can not live without colorful cartoons. However, please note that only large-screen TVs exhibit good surround image quality.

Differences between 2D and 3D

Many interested owners of old models ask: “Can we use, say, passive-type glasses to watch 2D TVs? Will the image from this be voluminous? ”Unfortunately, no. To view 3D movies you need a special screen. Thus, the high-quality transmission of the volumetric image requires a broadband signal with a frequency of 120 Hz. This does not mean the refresh rate of the screen, but the frequency of the input signal.

Choosing a TV in the

Store Even if you are going to choose a TV via the Internet, you should still watch it live. To do this, you can come to the nearest hardware store. Here, usually straight eyes run away from the abundance of different models. As a rule, they all demonstrate the same video or cartoon, so that buyers can compare the quality of the image.

However, this approach is beneficial to the sellers, and not to the buyers themselves. It is better to bring a flash drive with a movie, the quality of which you know well. If you ask the seller to include exactly your clip, you can compare the pictures on different screens. So choose a good 3D TV will be much easier.

You can also do the following:

  1. Try adjusting the image right on the trading floor. Be sure to make sure that the brightest colors are not set in the chosen model - this can confuse you.
  2. Listen to the sound, check its sound in the loud and quiet range. Do you like sound quality?
  3. Finally, put on your glasses and see the volume picture. Are your eyes comfortable? Is the image bright and deep enough?
  4. Review the manual, because it will certainly come in handy. Is there an explanation in Russian? Is the description clear?

3D TVs are the technology of the future. Perhaps very soon they will be able to completely replace their two-dimensional counterparts, allowing their owners to enjoy their favorite films in a new capacity. Remember: if, when choosing a three-dimensional model, you take into account all the nuances described above( high-quality glasses, color rendering, large screen, etc.), then you can make a really good purchase.
