The gardeners love to grow vines, they don't know the incense, they need to make a good idea, too. One of the most popular among them is calistegia. The dignity of these plants is obvious: they can become the main element of vertical gardening, which can hide from prying eyes any old building, a not very beautiful fence that can spoil the overall look of the garden. So, Kalistegiya, the photo of which you see below, may well become not only a favorite, but also an assistant gardener. Unpretentious plant will please the surrounding bright beauty throughout the warm season, some varieties bloom until the first frost.

During the flowering the vine looks very attractive: from all the axils of the leaves, large flowers that reach up to ten centimeters in diameter look out over the full length of the plant on long peduncles. It is for the beautiful flowering that resembles peonies of delicate pink color or climbing roses, this plant is sometimes called the French rose. Klistegiya terry in full bloom - a great sight.

Perennial creepers - bindweed unpretentious, however, somewhat aggressive. These plants grow so abundantly that their experts do not advise planting them on flower beds next to other plants, without at the same time limiting the unrestrained growth of their roots.

In order to prevent the root system from spreading horizontally throughout the site and not strangling other garden inhabitants, a slate or plastic sheet must be dug around the creeper to a depth of approximately forty centimeters.

Landing rules

Above you see a photo, on it is a beautiful terry cloth, the fit and care of which, in principle, is not complicated. Propagate this plant by dividing the creeping roots. At first they are simply rooted in small greenhouses, and then planted already in their permanent place. For landing it is required:

  • to prepare a trench, which must be dug down to the depth of a bayonet of a shovel;
  • fill the pit with mineral fertilizer;
  • add ash and humus.

In the prepared trench, it is necessary to expand the previously rooted future plants at a depth of about twenty centimeters from each other. It is also possible to root the plant with the help of planting small stems, but it will have to be covered in the first winter( with dry leaves or spruce branches).Such a vine can grow on the same place for about ten years, and even more so, while your bindweed will bloom profusely every year. So you should think about the nutrition of this plant in advance.

Care

So, growing Kalistegii terry( photo above) does not imply difficult maintenance, but almost immediately after planting it is necessary to equip the supports, although it would be simple to pull a small wire or put up the posts. It is necessary that the support was not more than ten centimeters in diameter, otherwise the vine will not be able to twist it around with its branches.

Young seedlings should be watered abundantly, but waterlogging is totally unacceptable.

In the middle of summer the bindweed will grow to a meter and a half, the first buds will begin to form. In order to maintain this flowering, the plant should be fed. Once a couple of weeks, you should make the usual mineral fertilizer, according to the standards specified in the annotations and instructions.

If summer is very cold, then calistegy should be treated with fungicides with care. By the way, this plant is very fond of snails, they damage the buds made up and gnaw through fair holes on the leaves. If this happens, it is necessary to apply biological( or chemical) methods of protection against pests.

Withered flowers should be constantly removed, otherwise the vine will not look neat. This should be done all summer before the end of flowering.

In the fall all the ground parts of the plant die, so it makes sense to simply cut the vine after the first frost in the fall, when the plant loses its decorative effect. For all types of these vines, including, for example, for calistegy multiplex, planting and care are basically the same. An adult plant does not need to be sheltered for the winter, unless the region is excessively cold. In late spring, your vine will wake up. In the middle band, this happens at the very end of May, when frosts, as a rule, no longer exist. If they are still expected, then young stalks should be made a small shelter.

Some species of Kalistegii

There are about twenty or even more species of Kalistegia, but only a few species are grown in gardens, others grow in the wild and are even considered harmful weeds.

. Calistegia and vertical gardening.

. This vine is created for projects with vertical gardening. Of course, in your garden there are gazebos, small arches, where the bindweed will feel great. The ordinary chain-link can become an excellent basis for a beautiful hedge. Any kalistegii in the photo you see it near some kind of support. So, the purpose of this plant is to twirl and twist. Without a support, calistegy does not grow well, it can refuse to bloom, therefore the gardener's main concern is to provide this liana with a decent support:

  1. Pillars, not thick columns and staves of calistegia perfectly wraps around. If the pillar in diameter is too large, it is necessary to stretch wire for the creeper in a circle. Calistegia terry can hide any unsightly garden supports.
  2. You can decorate the facade of your house around the perimeter of liana calistegia. You need a contour around the door to surround a narrow strip of the grid. Liana perfectly emphasizes the architecture of classical columns. For a home in the English style, this option is ideal.
  3. This vine looks great, as is Kalistegia to the flora of captivity in the arch. The perimeter of this arch can be made in the form of a narrow mesh strip. Kalistegiya while planted in two places, at the base of the arch and direct the branches towards each other.

Since Kalistegia, even terry, does not form a panorama and thick mosaic in the garden, it can be combined with some other beautiful vines. This may be, say, clematis.

Calistegia Liana is quite suitable for a pre-planned solemn event. For example, if a wedding is celebrated in a house in a few months, you can have time to plant two or three rhizomes in the intended place, and soon the lush pink buds will delight the guests. So, Kalistegia, despite its aggressive disposition, can become one of the most beloved plants in your garden.
