How to clean vacuum headphones

Anyone who likes to listen to music, faced with this problem: after some time, the sound quality in vacuum headphones is noticeably reduced. It may even sound like a sound in one of them. This is because a certain amount of skin secretions and earwax is collected inside the ear, which contaminate the headphones and spoil the sound. It means that the time has come to take radical measures - either to buy new vacuum headphones, or to clean the contaminated device in some way.

If you prefer high-quality sound and buy expensive headphones, you are unlikely to want to constantly spend money on the purchase of a new set just because the old one got dirty. And it is absolutely reasonable: it is much cheaper to clean, and it will not require much time.

What you need

For cleaning you will need to stock up on some set of objects and substances. Will need:

  • cotton swabs;
  • cotton pads;
  • clean tissue or paper napkins;
  • adhesive tape;
  • hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy;
  • alcohol or windscreen wiper;
  • cap from a plastic bottle or another small container of small height.

How to clean: procedure

  • Remove the rubber caps.
  • Wipe all wires and external surfaces with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol or a windscreen wiper. Wires too get dirty and they need to be cleaned from time to time, just for beauty and hygiene.
  • Pour hydrogen peroxide into the cap. The height of the fluid layer should not be more than 4 mm, preferably 2-3 millimeters. We need to clean only the mesh, and so that the liquid does not get inside.
  • Gently lower the headphones with the nets into the peroxide with the nets down and secure them in this position with tape. It is important that the headphones do not completely dip into the peroxide, as this will spoil them. Peroxide should be cleaned for 10-15 minutes.
  • While peroxide dissolves accumulated dirt, there is time to clean the rubber linings. This can be done with cotton buds dipped in peroxide or alcohol.
  • It's time to get the headphones from the peroxide solution. This should be done carefully so that moisture does not get on the membrane inside the sludge contacts.
  • To dry the mesh, you can simply put them on a napkin for 1-2 hours.

After complete drying, you can wear rubber nozzles and start using clean headphones.

For more effective cleaning, craftsmen suggest using an ordinary vacuum cleaner equipped with a nozzle made of scrap materials. The easiest way to make a cap is to make a small apple the size of a small apple and a piece of tube, the diameter of which is approximately equal to the diameter of the earpiece. The tube is inserted into the center of the plasticine ball, which, in turn, must be inserted into the tube of the vacuum cleaner hose.

Turn on the vacuum cleaner at minimum power, and preferably with an open hole to control the suction power.

A thin tube helps to remove not only moisture from the mesh, but also to effectively clean the headphones from particles of dirt and ear wax, softened by the action of hydrogen peroxide solution. But care must be taken: too much suction can damage the headphones. But this method allows you to clean the headphones much more efficiently and dry them faster.

If your headphones are often dirty, this does not mean that you do not follow the purity of your ears. Each person's skin operates in its own mode. Someone has more earwax, some less. It is necessary to clean the ears, of course, but doctors recommend not to abuse them in order not to damage the delicate skin inside the ear and not to provoke the development of inflammatory diseases. But giving your headphones to other people is not recommended.
