Features of

care There are several secrets of growing pepermia at home.

Temperature. Peperomia prefers a warm room throughout the year. In summer and spring, the temperature should be within + 20-23 ° C, in winter and autumn not lower than + 16 ° C.

Do not allow hypothermia and strong drafts, it is also not recommended to take peperomia to the open air even in the warm season.

Peperomy lighting mode. Peperomia is a rather light-loving species, but prefers to grow in areas with diffused light. It is recommended to place flower pots with a plant on the windows of the western or eastern part of the house. If this is not possible, then it is necessary to create a penumbra with the help of a mesh, fine fabric or paper. The intensity of illumination also depends on the type of perperomy: forms with dark green leaves feel comfortable in the shade, while variegated and brightly colored species require quite bright daylight.

Watering mode. Peperomia care includes a certain watering of the plant. In the warm season, abundant watering with settled water at room temperature is necessary. In autumn and winter, watering perperomy should be reduced so that the earth has time to dry out. It is better to dry out the soil a little than to overwet it, since abundant watering can provoke stagnant water and rotting of the root system. Regarding the humidity of the air, perperomy is completely resistant to dry air, but grows best in a humid climate typical of tropical areas. Therefore, in the hot season, all types of perperia, with the exception of gray-haired, need a little spraying.

Fertilizer for peperomia. From the beginning of spring to the end of autumn, peperomia must be fed with complex fertilizer twice a month. In winter, fertilizer is reduced to once a month.

Reproduction and replantation of

Peperomia transplantation should take place in the spring, once every two to three years. At the same time, they completely change the soil, cut off the dead parts of the plant and disinfect the roots with the help of black coal powder or cinnamon. If the plant has grown heavily, then divide it into several small bushes.

After transplantation, plants should never be used to fertilize the soil until the next spring.

Reproduction of perperomy, as a rule, occurs in several ways:

  1. Seeds. To do this, you need to buy seeds of hybrids of the first generation( F1), sow them wet ground, cover with foil, creating 100% moisture, leave in the light and wait for the first shoots to appear. After the appearance of the first shoots with leaves, pick them and arrange them in separate containers.
  2. Using cuttings. This method is ideal for reproduction of ampelous, creeping or climbing species. To do this, cut the stalk rooted in wet sand or moss and cover with a transparent film. After about 3-4 weeks, the first roots of a new plant appear.
  3. Sheet reproduction. Suitable for upright species or bushy peperias. Separate the sheet together with a cutting of a length of no more than 4 cm, place it in a wet substrate( sand with peat or moss is best suited) and wait for the roots to appear. A leaf plate with a handle can also be placed in water, but at the same time the depth to which the cutting is immersed should not be more than half a centimeter.
  4. Division of an adult plant .This method of reproduction can be carried out in the spring when transplanting plants, by simply dividing it into several small bushes.
