Gulab chardzhuyskie or melons loved by all who taste the only one slice of fragrant fruit. Late-ripened zarda, which include several varieties of Central Asian gulyabi, rightly bear the title of “queen of melons”.
Large, elongated or ovoid fruits have a smooth, slightly wrinkled or unevenly sparsely coated surface. Dense bark, depending on the variety and variety, may have a green, whitish or yellow color. The flesh is thick, dense with a wonderful sweet taste and pronounced aroma. Most of the varieties of gulyabi acquire all their qualities only a few days or weeks after collection. Thanks to this property, melons can be stored almost until spring and transported over long distances without fear of damage or loss of taste. Melons are unpretentious and easily carry storage and in a suspended form, and folded in piles.
As many thousands of years ago, the center of gulyabi cultivation is the Chardju region in Turkmenistan, but the popularity of this type of melon is such that the culture can be easily noticed on the melons in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan andin the south of Russia, for example, in the Astrakhan region. Melon growers distinguish several varieties of gulyabi.
Gulyabi Orange
The variety is selected by plant breeders of the Uzbek Scientific Research Institute of Plant Industry. Here are obtained today’s popular varieties and hybrids of this culture. The vegetation period lasts from 100 to 115 days. Fruits of orange melon have an ovoid shape and reach a weight of 4 to 5 kg. The surface of the melon is flat, in some varieties near the cutting a weak division into segments is seen. The bark is dense, orange-yellow, with no signs of pattern, but with a large mesh.
This melon subspecies does not ripen on bahche. Freshly cut fruits have a low-sugar, low-sugar flesh, which changes its properties as a result of maturation.
A usable melon accumulates up to 8.5% of sugar, the flesh becomes white, juicy and very fragrant.
Gulyabi green
In contrast to the orange, the green variety on the surface shows small wrinkles, and the grid pattern is not so pronounced. The melon's thick, crunchy flesh under the peel has a greenish, and closer to the center - a white color. In taste is not inferior to the previous type of gulyabi.
Intact fruits in a special sheath can be stored until the spring of next year.
Sary-gulyabi
Elongated ovoid melons of this type are easily recognizable by a continuous coarse grid covering the even surface of the peel. As it ripens, the color of the fruit changes from yellow to orange. The flesh is thick, viscous-fibrous, juicy and very sweet.
Melons Alla-hamma
Egg-shaped fruits can reach a weight of 6-7 kg. Melons with a barely noticeable mesh pattern have a light yellow color. Against this background, thin paired, often intermittent strips of brownish-orange hue are visible. The variety is distinguished for its excellent taste, pleasant crunchy texture and whiteness of the pulp, which occupies almost the entire internal space of the fruit.
