This is often an erroneous opinion, since there are many ornamental plants with golden leaves and needles that look no less attractive than plants with yellow flowers and fruits (for example, forsis, mahonia, sea buckthorn, hawthorn).

Cultures with yellow leaves require a certain approach when growing. Let us consider some of them.

Canadian elder "Aurea"

This four-meter-long shrub with an extensive crown grows rapidly on a nitrogen-rich soil, loves copious watering and is not fastidious to lack of sun. A distinctive feature are white round inflorescences and large pointed yellow leaves. The flowering period begins in July and lasts until mid-to-late August. Fruits of red color are suitable for food.

As a rule, elder eggs are planted on a lawn, or in small groups. Before reaching the young plants of 2 years of age, they must be covered with lapnika for the winter. This is especially true for the middle zone of our country.

Bladderfruit "Darts Gold"

This shrub blossoms from June to July and reaches a height of 3 m. The crone has an oval shape and a high density. Flowers are both pink and white, the leaves have a yellow color, which by autumn becomes darker. You can harvest fruits in September.

Unlike its predecessor, "Darts Gold" is very picky about the light and does not like excess moisture, it is enough to water it a couple of times a month, if it rains, or 2 times a week in drought conditions.

A lot of light is required for active growth. The plant is not well tolerated by the shadow.

Shrub bubus is easily cut, so it is convenient to form hedges from it.

Heather ordinary Boscop

This shrub reaches a height of only 30 cm. Its purple flowers are gathered in inflorescences of small length. Blossom "Boscop" from the second half of August until the end of September. In the summer, its yellow leaves have a greenish tinge, and in the winter - a more brown, closer to the bronze.

Care for the heather is painstaking enough. Best of all, it grows on loosened soil with high acidity with the addition of needles, sand and peat. Very demanding to light and regular watering with top dressing. However, even under ideal conditions, the heather grows slowly, adding 3-5 cm per year. If the summer was dry, it is recommended to spray the planting in the evenings.

Heather ordinary "Gold Haze"

The grade "Gold Haze" exceeds the size of the "Boscop". Its height reaches 40 cm, and the sweep of the round crown to 50 cm. The color of the leaves is usually dark yellow in summer and more light in winter. Inflorescences are white, up to 20 cm long. The period of flowering is the same as that of the "Boscop" - from August to September. He likes acidic soil, which grows 12 cm a year. In this case, the plant is moderately photophilous, but in the shade it is better not to plant it. It is recommended to fertilize Kemira Universal in the spring and not long before the beginning of flowering.

Both varieties of heather tolerate our winters well. From November to the middle of spring, it is required to cover with lapnik.

Alder gray Aurea

This tree, the height, on average, 7 m and the diameter of the crown to 5 m. From spring to summer, the color of the leaves changes from light yellow to saturated orange. Red-orange "earrings" look very nice in the first half of spring.
