Sandwich pipe chimney: how to assemble it yourself and not make mistakes

The chimney from the sandwich pipe provides good draft of the furnace, high fire safety and practically does not clog. In addition, he gives the house an aesthetic appearance. Assembling the product yourself is not particularly difficult. It is these qualities that contributed to the wide popularity of this type of chimney.

The installation of the chimney from the sandwich pipe should start from the bottom up, from the stove to the roof. With the internal placement of the chimney, it is necessary to lay a concrete foundation, it will provide reliable support to the pipe. The width of the foundation should be 20-30 centimeters larger than the diameter of the pipe. A layer of waterproofing is laid on its upper platform.

The foundation of the chimney can be any building block made of heat-resistant material. It cuts out a place for the installation of the revision tee, necessary for servicing the pipe. The tee is connected to the furnace and laid on a heat-insulating layer of basalt wool. Sandwich pipe segments are attached to it. The joints between them are coated with heat-resistant sealant and fixed with the help of special clamps that come complete with pipes.

Passages through the ceiling of the house and the roof should be given special attention. Fire safety depends on the correctness of the operations. To minimize the risk of fire on wooden surfaces, the holes for the pipe should be cut 20-30 centimeters larger than its diameter.

For greater stability in the ceiling and at the exit from the roof, unloading sites are installed. They are made of a metal square and a galvanized sheet, in which a hole is made along the diameter of the pipe. Between the sheet and the ceiling, as well as the lower part of the roof, lay a layer of sheet asbestos. The space between the pipe and the ceiling is filled with non-combustible heat-insulating material.

After the pipe is released through the roof, the junction is closed with a special silicone apron. It is installed on the roofing material and screwed to it with screws. The joints are treated with sealant. Having completed the assembly of the chimney, the last section of the pipe is covered with a tip. It prevents moisture from getting into its cavity and wetting of the heat-insulating layer.

To ensure long and uninterrupted operation of the chimney from the sandwich pipe, it should be serviced periodically. To do this, once a year, usually before the start of the heating season, it is enough to remove fuel combustion waste accumulated in it from the inspection tee. Also, before the start of the operation season, it is necessary to conduct a visual inspection of the entire chimney for damage.
