Budget brick wall simulation options

Brick wall is a stylish design element in lofts. Only original material will fly a pretty penny. It turns out that you can make an imitation of a brick budget and do it yourself.

The working process

First you need to carefully prepare the wall for future brickwork. It is cleaned from the previous coating, carefully sanded first with a large emery cloth, then fine. If necessary, alignment work is carried out.

Next, you need to create a brick model, on which the markings on the wall will be drawn. Plywood or thick cardboard is ideal for this. A rectangle with sides 25 by 6.5 cm is cut from the material. At the same time, indents of 1.5 cm are made on each side of the brick, which are indicated as seams. A seam is also drawn in the middle, which divides the workpiece in half.

The marking starts from the bottom with an indent from the floor of 10 cm. Using a simple pencil, the first corner brick is circled, then the next one on the edge. After circling the perimeter, they move to the center.

Further, the marked wall is necessarily covered with a primer using a roller. It does not affect the brightness and clarity of pencil lines, so you can safely primer. This stage is necessary for strong adhesion of the mortar and the wall.

Before applying the mortar for bricks, all joints must be glued with a narrow masking tape. For convenience, work begins with horizontal lines, and ends with vertical ones. Adhesive tape overlaps.

The simulation solution is made in 1: 1 proportions with tile glue and plaster. Such a mixture solidifies quite reliably, so it will last a long time in the form of decorations. Plaster is applied over the entire surface of the wall, in a thick layer. As soon as the solution closes the entire wall, you must immediately proceed to remove the masking tape.

Thus, the seams between the bricks are cleaned. You can not wait because the solution quickly sets, and the masking tape simply breaks from tension. In no case can you use gypsum to decorate a wall, because it instantly sets.

Shaping Bricks

Finished bricks need to be given a certain shape so that the imitation is the most reliable. This can be done with a chisel, spatula or tablespoon. Work is carried out if the solution was applied by hand.

Painting

After complete drying, the wall surface must be thoroughly cleaned from dust and dirt using hard brushes or a rag. After the primer is applied to the bricks and joints. But the prepared surface is layered with any paint.
