Wallpapering - a simple and affordable option

Wallpapering the walls is a traditional and very common option. Somewhat less often use this material for pasting ceilings, but at the same time, such a finish is also found. But at the same time, few people know that wallpaper can also be used under certain conditions to design a floor. Coverage can be excellent if you choose the right pattern and variety of wallpaper.

To finish the floor with wallpaper turned out to be durable, attention should be paid primarily to the preparation of the base. It should be perfectly smooth. As the base layer, you can use fiberboard or chipboard, which perfectly level the surface. Altitude differences must be avoided. After the entire surface is checked for any flaws. All irregularities should be removed. The creaking areas at this stage are tightened using self-tapping screws. All sheets must be fixed. Wallpaper should not be glued to floorboards in any case, since their surface will never be perfectly even.

For the decoration of the floor, options with imitation wood or other natural motifs are best suited. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish such a finish from a laminate, especially since it is made in a similar way. Wallpaper will need to be cut into separate pieces, leaving a small margin. For fixing, use an acrylic-based varnish, as it dries quickly, does not emit unpleasant odors and is completely harmless to human health. During work during this treatment, the wallpaper will be more resistant to mechanical damage.

It should be borne in mind that only paper wallpapers can be used for finishing the floor, since in the future they can peel off due to air tightness.

The base surface is cleaned of impurities, treated with a primer with the addition of antiseptics. PVA glue is then diluted with water in a ratio of one to two. With such proportions, the wallpaper will first slide on the surface, and not immediately stick to it. Joints can be caught up as accurately as possible.
