During construction work, any structure must meet the requirements regarding the strength characteristics of the entire building. Very often, huge loads affect the capital walls of buildings erected from brick. To reinforce such structures, one of the hardening options is used, which is referred to as a reinforcing mesh.
Reinforced brickwork has been practiced by civil engineers for several centuries. The use of such a wall reinforcement is justified for critical structures, which will be subjected to a huge load. Of course, reinforced masonry greatly complicates the process of building the object, but the efforts are fully justified.
A similar strengthening of brickwork is made using steel wire reinforcement. Mesh reinforcement, which is installed over the entire area of the wall, evenly redistributes the load, avoiding strong influences and point overloads on a certain section of the wall. In addition to all this, the reinforced coating takes on part of the load, thereby reducing the pressure on the bricks several times.
From where the pieces of reinforcement are directed, the mesh is of longitudinal and transverse type. The longitudinal, in turn, can be mounted both in the longitudinal and in the horizontal direction.
To perform the brickwork reinforced with a reinforced network, the builder needs to stock up on the following elements:
- Metal corners;
- Rods made of steel;
- Wire;
- A grid that is placed between the bricks;
- Paint for painting metal parts of the wall;
- Metal planks;
- Large diameter rods.
Masonry, which is laid in the transverse direction, is usually reinforced with a net or rods, making a metal mesh around the perimeter of the wall. Grids are in the form of squares, rectangles, and even zigzag.
Modern all-metal networks are exhaust and perforated. Both types are distinguished by their durability and increased strength characteristics.
Masonry reinforcement is not too complicated. Such wall reinforcement can be performed under any building conditions.
Do not forget that the strengthening of the supporting structure ensures safety during operation of the room. Carrying out such work requires knowledge and skills in the construction business. All norms and requirements adopted in our country must be observed. Despite the additional costs, reinforcing the walls is mandatory when erecting supporting structures.
