How to make a juicer from a washing machine: preparing materials and tools, assembling and testing

Autumn is the time of harvest. If you are a happy owner of a small garden, then in the case of a favorable year, you may encounter asking how to deal with a lot of apples or other fruits ripened and requiring harvesting and processing. One of the reasonable solutions is to procure juice. But an ordinary juicer cannot handle it. The approach described in this article is the manufacture of a high-performance juicer from an old washing machine.

Preparation of tools and materials for creating a juicer

To build such a device, you first need an old washing machine, possibly even a failed one. The main thing is that the motor should work for her and the drive mechanism should be in working condition.

In addition, come in handy: wooden blocks for installing the device, metal mesh, a set of bolts with nuts, rubber plugs, a piece of clean hose to drain the juice and a large tank for the finished products.

Of the tools you will need: a set of screwdrivers, wrenches, welding, an angle grinder with a metal disc, a drill and a hammer. Scissors for metal are also useful.

Remaking a washing machine tank

How to make a juicer from a washing machine? To start work, you must remove the tank from the machine.

First of all, disassemble the outer walls of the housing. Locate the pulley driving the drum. Carefully remove it.

After that, press the sealing gasket on the tank hatch and dismantle the clamp together with the gasket. Next, unscrew and remove all the bolts securing the tank, disconnect other parts that interfere with its removal. Carefully remove the tank.

To modify it, you need to disconnect the drum located inside. Depending on the design, you need to either free the tank from all fasteners (bolts, latches, etc.) or carefully cut it with a grinder. After that, the rotating assembly can be removed.

Important! Before further manipulations with the components of the washing machine, it is necessary to thoroughly clean its components from the effects of washing - scale, rust, dirt, etc.

Start upgrading: seal all tank technological openings with rubber plugs or patches from metal plates (by welding), with the exception of the drain hole; attach the drain branch pipe.

Alteration of the drum

How do I do a juicer from a washing machine with my own hands? The drum will also require further development. First of all, it is necessary to get rid of the regular holes with the help of welding - they are too large and will not protect the juice from penetrating into it the fruit cake formed in the drum.

Then, using a drill with a small diameter, make new holes for the liquid fraction of the substance to leak through them.

An alternative option is to install on the inner surface of the drum by its diameter between its ribs a fine metal mesh, which will play the role of a rough filter for cleaning. The grid is cut with scissors for metal and fastened to screws.

Turn the drum over so that the hole in the hatch points up. This will be the working position of the future juicer. Now at the bottom of the drum you need to install a grater for chopping the fruit. It can be made from a metal pan or bowl, the diameter of the hole passing through the hole. Having cut off the lower part and making holes in it from the inside using a hammer and a nail, make a grater for grinding raw materials.

Turn the improvised grinder convex often up and fasten it with screws on a flat part of the inner surface of the drum.

Assemble the drum and tank together. Firmly fix the structure in the “hatch up” position on a wooden base. Attach the motor, pull the belt onto the drive. Connect the motor wires in a simplified diagram (without connecting to the RPM sensor). To do this, connect two wires together: one coming from the motor brushes, the second to the stator.

We connect one wire remaining free from each pair to the conductors going to the contactors of the supply plug. The drum will operate at maximum speed (in spin mode), which is required in this case. The juicer is ready for testing.

Device testing

For testing, you will need two more auxiliary devices.

1. Guide dishes, cylindrical without bases, slightly tapering to the bottom. It is installed above the grater with support on the tank body so as not to touch the rotating parts of the drum. The fruits to be chopped and pressed will be loaded into this cylinder.
2. Wooden handle or cue ball for pushing raw materials into the chopper.

Now everything is ready to start the tests. Plug in the unit. Put the guide tank, load the product, with a wooden pusher, compact it until it is completely crushed. Turn off the engine and remove the cylinder.

The raw material is in the drum in the form of gruel. Re-start the drum. Under the action of centrifugal force, the juice will exit through the walls of the drum into the drain hole of the tank and fall into the tank for the finished product.
