Description of the plant

Sansevieria belongs to the family of agave. The plant is characterized by thick long leaves of various colors.
The flower originates from savannas and subtropics. The ideal climate for him in Asia, Madagascar, India, as well as in Central Africa. That's why we have this plant grown only in pots. In open ground culture simply will not survive, even despite its unpretentiousness.
The leaves of the sansevieria are thick, have a fairly dense structure, look like gloss. As for the colors, there are a lot of them, depending on the type of plant. Mostly these are green and brown shades with a different number of strips, and can also be interspersed.
The length of the leaves reaches one meter. Often at the ends they are a little pointed. The arrangement of the plates is also significantly different. Leaves can be both in a vertical, horizontal direction, and look at the sides.

One of the varieties of "mother-in-law" is Sansevera Dunery. Its homeland is the land of West Africa.

On the surface of the plates there are transverse bands, but they are washed out and almost invisible. Flowers of pleasant white color, with a luring scent of lilac.

Sansevieria Grandis
This species is also called Sansevieria Greater. This variety is characterized by very large, thick and wide leaves, the height of which is not too large. The adult plate reaches a maximum of half a meter. The color of the leaves is bright green. Also there are strips of zigzag shape, which are located in the transverse direction. At the edges of the leaves have a neat edging of a red hue. Inflorescences white-green. They form a racemose shape.
Sansevieria three-lane
This type of plant is one of the most common, which are grown in pots.
In one socket sansevieria trifasciata there are no more than six sheets, painted in dark green color. On their surface are located in the transverse direction fairly light strips. The height of the leaves reaches one and a half meters, width - up to ten centimeters. The form is flat, smooth, has a peculiar narrowing to the upper part, and at the end there is a thorn.
For this type of plant is important lighting in which it grows, because of this factor depends on the color of the bands. When there is bright light, the leaves become bright. Otherwise, the color becomes dark green, and the strips are rather weak, without any clarity.

- Sansevieria Munshain. It is famous for the presence of thin smooth leaves. Their color is light, having a gray-greenish tinge. Occasionally inherent silvery ebb. The shape of the plates is undulating.
Sansevieria Cylindrica
The variety sansevieria cylindrica is derived artificially from other species. Characterized by the longest leaves, of which even you can weave various interesting compositions. To do this, it is enough to connect the plates to each other in any order, as you wish, and from above to wind an elastic band, rope or even a bow.
This type of plant does not like direct sunlight, which can result in burns. The flower is good at drafts, but it is very susceptible to copious watering. It is better not to water this plant completely than to allow waterlogging of the soil, due to which the root system will rot.
Sansevieria cylindrical needs constant feeding. Similar procedures should be started from the spring and finish at the beginning of the autumn, the rest of the time nothing to do is not necessary. As a fertilizer, any complex mineral and organic substances are well suited, and ready-mixed succulents can also be used. Strictly observe the proportions indicated on the package.

Easy reproduction
Sansevieria cylindrical, which is represented in the photo, easily reproduces with a sheet. Therefore, if, due to some reason, your favorite plant has lost the plate, do not worry, but use it for reproduction.
The sheet should be cut into several pieces approximately five centimeters long. All the elements should be left for 48 hours to dry properly. Prepare a small flower pot, and then pour into it a special substrate for this type of plant. Prepared planting material should be planted at a shallow depth.Make a so-called greenhouse, for which cover the pot with ordinary food film and leave it in a warm place with good light.
While the leaf is rooted, a mini-greenhouse should be ventilated daily and watered periodically, as the soil dries. It will not be a month since the cut-off parts form a complete root system.It is at this time boldly transplanted small flowers into separate small pots.
Low-height Sansevierium
This plant species was derived from the Laurenti variety by breeder Khan, and therefore was named Sansevieria Hanni. This is a low-growing plant, whose height does not exceed thirty centimeters.
On the basis of this species, such low-growth varieties were later removed as:
- Sansevieria Golden Hanni. The flower is very similar to the previous view, only supplemented by the presence of yellow bands. The pattern on the surface of the plates can be in a chaotic order. Because of its color, this variety is called a sanseur with yellow edges. The plant is very popular among florists due to its quick survival and attractive appearance.
- Sansevieria Silver Hanni. The name speaks for itself. Leaflets have a gray-green tinge. Strips in the longitudinal direction are not clearly defined, and have dark edges.
- Sansevieria Hanni Cristata. Its peculiarity is that the leaves periodically twist in different directions.
The low-grown Sansevieria is a very beautiful flower, and enjoys no less popularity than all other varieties. "Teschin tongue" is a very hardy plant, and not whimsical in nursing. Not afraid of drafts, dry air and various pests.
Thinness of care
However, the basic nuances in care still need to be considered. The flower likes pretty bright lighting, on which the color of the leaves depends. The brighter the light, the more intense the shade. However, on very hot days it is not advisable to get direct sunlight.

The plant has a fairly small root system. One socket basically has up to ten leaves. Color - pale green. On the sheets there are white dots in the form of spots. The edging is made in the form of a strip of red or brown color.
Sansevieria Ayyo
This variety is a kind of hyacinth "mother-in-law" language. The height of the leaves can reach half a meter, and the width is up to seven centimeters. All of them have a dark green color with patches of silvery-gray color. The border is made in the form of a strip of white or red tone. For this variety it is characteristic that the leaves grow in groups, from two to four pieces in one outlet.
